Dev Academy is a unique learning experience that cultivates an environment that nurtures growth, teamwork, empathy and aroha while you rapidly upscale your technical abilities. The facilitators are incredible and have created an inclusive and fun learning environment and it’s clear that a lot of thought and care has been put into the programme for both the technical content and the human skills. You feel seen and celebrated as individuals and they offer so much support along the way. What an incredible experience and I would recommend it to all. I would unlearn everything so I could do bootcamp all over again if I could.

EDA is run by a great team, who create an awesome, collaborative & inclusive learning environment that suits multiple learning styles. I Iearned so much in such short time without even realizing. I would definitely recommend this course for anyone looking to start a career in tech.

I couldn't speak highly enough of this course and the facilitators. I completed Dev Academy in July 2023 and had an incredible learning experience. Everyone went above and beyond to make the environment positive and inclusive for myself and my peers. Not only have I come out of this course with valuable development skills but I feel I’ve become a better person with the addition of the human skills curriculum that was delivered throughout the boot camp. I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and would highly recommend this to anyone at any skill level interested in becoming a Web Developer.

I only see two people who are not employees (current or past) of dev? Also, I was blocked on instagram facebook and twitter for sharing my experience. So were other disabled folks I know.Added context: I did make a complaint at the time and my mental health was questioned. When I pointed out that was inappropriate given the inappropriate behaviour towards me, Emma Barnes back-peddled, but still called me sensitive. I was literally told I couldn't participate in our group project bc of my autism and yelled at in front of everyone. I was told off for fact checking things and most of the time the tutor was unable to understand or solve the coding problems they were teaching us about. I was only treated respectfully once they found out my partner was a CFO. I get that it is ok if you aren't neurodivergent or the kid in the class that gets picked on, but if you are vulnerable in any way, this is not a safe place. The human skills lessons are super cultey and encourage a level of vulnerability that is not safe at all. I was told to 'feel the trauma of my r**e' ten minutes into meeting a human skills facilitator. All the good reviews in the world won't change the damage that dev did to me. It was traumatic and one of the worst experiences of harassment I've experienced in a learning environment. The folks made to drop out were told they were being lazy. I don't doubt they blame themselves for it. How many of the good reviews are from folks with complex learning disabilities who made it through I wonder?--------------------------------------------------------------------------I was not allowed to make a complaint when men in my cohert were aggressive and bullied me for my disability. Instead my credibility and mental health were questioned, until I threatened media action. I was told it was a matter of reputation and unfortunately the cis men do better after" by the head of the school. Also

I come from a welding background (Heavy Steel Fabrication which I did for 4 years!) all I knew about computers was how to use YouTube and that was about it. Dev Academy showed me how to change my fixed mindset into a growth mindset. I had zero knowledge about coding and computers and I’m saying that I’m proud to say that I graduated this week being certified in Software Engineering. The facilitators at Dev Academy have to be one of the best teachers I’ve ever met. Their willingness to help and teach us is incredible. I don’t know about all these bad reviews but honestly if I can do it anyone can do it! This Academy will change your life for the better! I have so much respect for everyone at Dev Academy and also to my Cohort of Piwakawaka.

I'd highly recommend this course for anyone from any background and experience level who wants to pick up coding. The culture and teaching environment here is really unique and second-to-none for enabling people to become confident and competent devs, no matter the level of background knowledge. I can't speak more highly of the staff, and of the way the course is carefully put together. The bootcamp experience was unreal! Would give 6 stars if I could.

omg the five star reviews are by dev staff members pretty much. Cringy. Also they blocked me on facebook so I couldn't contact them, then wrote that they had reached out to me. I was bullied and told I was sensitive when I tried to make a complaint, plus, fact-checking misinformation was 'inappropriate' and 'bullying'. Staff members went home in tears after breaking our code and not knowing how to fix it. If you have a disability and get bullied, you will have your credibility and mental health questioned. I wonder if they block other folks that they harm so that they don't get to share their experience? Or just me? They rely on letting in code bros who have coding backgrounds and need their egos stroked, bc they hire staff members who don't know code.
