We had a wonderful wine tasting with Shelen. It’s a beautiful cellar door and would highly recommend a stop if you are tasting in the Gibbston Valley.

Attended cellar door and bistro. The wines were great and fantastic run through of wines and history by staff. The bistro had the BEST pizza I’ve ever had in my life and great service as well.

5 stars for the restaurant meal. Outdoor setting was very picturesque and adequately heated. Pizza was amazing and so was the fried chicken. Excellent meal.4 stars for the cellar door experience.

After being recommended by our driver for the day as a must visit, we were left extremely disappointed and disillusioned. From the minute we walked up and greeted (Dave?) the Bistro manager it went downhill. He was extremely unhelpful and unwelcoming which was so obvious our driver got out of his vehicle and came over to make sure all was ok. He could see we weren’t being welcomed and tried to improve the situation. We wanted to eat and then experience some wine tasting. Although there were many vacant tables we were told he could only put us on a sofa on the path near the waiters area. It was terrible, but interestingly the majority of vacant tables stayed that way for the whole time we sat there to eat and were still empty when we left after the tastings? Dave also told us he had booked us in for tastings at 3pm, this was not the case and a young lady sorted the booking out. However the tastings was never explained to us and when we arrived in the tasting room at 3:05 we were told that we were too late as it was a group tasting and had already started and had missed out. I explained to the lady that our experience had been very unwelcoming, rude and no one was interested enough to actually explain the difficult restrictive processes of visiting this winery. She offered to take us through a quick tasting, this was appreciated however it was very much in your face and expectant of a large order upon completion. Whilst I enjoyed some of the wines, after the less than enjoyable experience I only purchased a couple of bottles, to which the comment was made “oh is that all you want”. Whilst this winery seems to have mostly good reviews and came recommended, our experience left us extremely disappointed and when next in NZ will not return.

I booked a lunch at the bistro at 11:30am, but arrived a bit earlier so my partner and I could wander around the property. We went to the wine shop and the attendant was very helpful and showed knowledge about the wines they have helping us to choose one we would like the most. We also took some photos with the ambient decoration, which is lovely and appealing. For lunch we ordered a camembert for starter, lamb and pizza as mains. Everything was very tasteful and arrived quickly. The waitress also assisted us in choosing the right wine to pair with the food we ordered and it was a really tasty wine.As desert we ordered a pannacotta and a cheesecake, both very good as the rest of the meal. When we were almost finished the live music started (there is live music every Saturday from 1pm to 3pm), we stayed around a bit enjoying the music and then left with this great experience in our memories.I just want to say once again how all the staff we had contact with today was very friendly and helpful, the attention was remarkable!

Very limited range of wines to taste, some of our party don’t drink red wine when they asked for something else the host removed their glass. Very poor service, no personality and very average wines. There are plenty of better wineries to go to.

Hands down the best winery experience in the valley. The wine was the best we’ve had in that area (certainly better than Gibston valley winery which had pretty underwhelming wines to taste). The tastings are intimate at your own personal table, making it feel special. Shout out to Gary who was really knowledgeable, allowing us to feel connected to the wine and it’s growers. Would highly recommend the bistro too, really flavorful and delicious food (could have bigger portions though, the “sharing plates” are not super shareable)

I came in for a tasting and Shelen (I hope I spelt that right) was wonderful. She was knowledgeable and great to chat with about wine and life. The selection of wines was great value for the tasting price too and all were delicious. Would absolutely visit again.
