Nice place to meet down near the beach ! Small yet tasteful menu. The chicken tacos were very good ! Wonderful atmosphere and great staff/owners ! (For all the Canadians out there they have Cesars!!)

We found the menu to be a limited but we stayed and ordered. Food came out quick. Staff were polite and friendly. Parking can be difficult if its a hot day and everyone is at the beach.

Went here for lunch. Atmosphere is very nice, especially by the beach. The floor staff also very nice and friendly. We noticed the fish burger coming from the kitchen, it looked great so we ordered this from the menu. When ours arrived it was a disappointment…the fish inside the burger was tiny and it was extremely dry. What a shame! I wanted to make this place a regular dining spot in Christchurch

Fries were great, the Squid was ok, a little chewy, but ok. But the iced chocolate at $7+ after the 10% holiday loading was a total rip off. Sorry, but I expect more than a milky milo for $7. We'd normally get an icecream scoop, puffy cream and chocolate sauce swirls for that.

Sumner Social is definitely a welcome development on the beach front. A fine place for a beer or wine in the sun with really good outdoor seating and a nice open front. The food I will say was a little lack lustre, not bad in anyway, let’s just say I might not knock your socks off. But the service was awesome and friendly and the cocktails and atmosphere were on point.

One of the best finds in a long time. I've been planning to visit for a little while as I pass regularly walking my dogs but have only just got around to it. I should not have waited. Amazing food, great atmosphere and everyone was super friendly. Was in for a late dinner after work at 8 and the kitchen was still open and even better, it was taco Tuesday. Between me and my partner we tried the two different taco specials, the fish taco and the chicken taco. We also got the corn chips and guacamole and the parfait. So damned good all of it. The corn chips were ridiculously good I assume house made and the pardait was perfect with a sweet pickley thing on the side and a daikon pickle as well. The combination was perfect and the bread tasted smokey. Every single taco was great, the flank steak and guacamole taco brought a lot of flavour out with some fennel to carry it, the tofu and kimchi taco was just the right level of kimchi to make the tofu great and the chicken and fish were both amazing. They also had three boys apricot kombucha so all up great. We were stuffed but incredibly content. Solidly recommend.

We’ve been here a few times now and every time the staff were super friendly and helpful, also enjoyed the tacos and truffle fries a lot! The chicken is better than the fish. Hannah was great and helped with gluten free options too - will def keep coming here
