We received excellent service from beginning to end. Didn't book a table but were shown to a booth straight away. Welcomed and drink order taken efficiently. Waited on by a lovely young man who was very polite and attentive. The meal was delicious for all 4 of us but my children had food envy when they saw my venison dish. The venison was cooked to perfection and the steamed vegetables perfect. After a week of lots of fast food and takeaways I was desperate for something fresh and tasty and it didn't disappoint. We will definitely be back next time we are in Te Anau - awesome place to visit!

Was heading to the pie shop next door but closed....thank goodness as Bailiez was next door. A warm, welcoming atmosphere similar to an English pub with a modern twist. Lovely comfortable seating and a homely wooden fireplace. A good menu selection with all day breakfast options. The soup of the day was onion. OMG, never had such good, tasty soup ($15 great value) and the beef burger made with pure homemade beef patty ($24 best value we've seen in NZ). Didn't want to leave so topped our meals off with the sticky date dessert ($12 - excellent value)....so delish. Highly recommended.

The staff were very pleasant. However, the food was a bit disappointing. The lamb rump was a little tough. We ordered the steak medium-rare for the surf and turf special, but it came out very well-done. Our waitress was kind enough to get us another steak. The steamed vegetables weren’t my cup of tea, since I found them a bit bland. The other sides were pretty good though.

The surf & turf was good. Fish and chips were good but the pork belly was disappointing. Service was very good in spite of the high stress they were facing.

Dined here twice. Cozy and ambient space, great on a cold night with the fire going. Venison was amazing, i had it twice. Lamb shanks were tasty too and steak was pretty decent. Vegetables were cooked to a mixed consistency but still fine. Overall a pretty good experience

We got to Bailiez at around 7 pm on 04/01/23 and lined up to get a table, as other places told us that they were booked out, Bailiez has a first come first serve policy. They provided a table for 3, but informed us a tour group would be on their way and the food would be delayed when they arrived, which we accepted, they told us about an hour wait for food. So we ordered some tasty local beer and ordered our meals. We were told the tour group had arrived so our meals could be delayed, but turns out it was only about the hour, which was great as they were clearly very, very busy. The waiter, Tom, was very informative and kept us updated the whole time. His service was excellent and we even had some banter with him. The food was fantastic, 3 meals arrived together, all warm and ready to eat. High quality food for a pub like setting. I had the venison medallions which melted in my mouth. Would recommend, especially if you have trouble elsewhere in Te Anau.

I had here an early lunch today, and I think I choose the best place in the street (other places had signs saying they open at 11:00 am but at 11:30 they were still closed) the waiter, Roberto, was really nice and talkative, taking a lot of orders as more groups arrived for lunch.I have been a month in new Zealand, and service, usually, is very poor, you get used to it until a real waiter, as Roberto (probably French, I Am from Spain) wait your table. Best waiter and service in my whole trip. The 'luxmore' burguer was good, and big, although 30nzd makes me rate only 4/5 stars in food, due to quality/price.

This place actually served decent sized portions for the price! I think what’s hard is in town it’s hard to tell what’s good and what isn’t. Our bus driver Ray recommended this spot. The lamb shank was so nice and fell off the bone and they provided an assortment of veggies with it - cauliflower, broccoli, carrot, brussel sprouts etc. Only sad part was the steak and fries which are just decent and average. The steak being super super thin. But give this place a shot if you love cosy vibes.
