Hobson's Choice Motel
My family and I enjoyed our overnight stay. We had a very spacious, clean and tidy two bedroom unit. A fan in each room helped keep us cool. Full sized kitchen, although the oven didn’t work. Lovely owners were very helpful. Sure, the place is tired and dated, but no more than what I have come to expect from provincial NZ.

A bit below par even for provincial NZ. No AC in rooms or TV in bedroom, other than that clean and tidy inside and out , friendly host, clean pool. Could do with a bit of modernising but otherwise no problem and happy to stay again some time

The staff are amazing! Super friendly and went the extra mile for us. We arrived in the rain on our motorbikes and Ilene even moved her car out the garage so we can park our 3 bikes in there! They organized a shuttle to the hotel for dinner. Highly recommend!

Hobson's Choice Motel
Only stayed 1 night but it was clean and tidy. The unit was a good size, but a little dated and the bathroom needed a little maintenance. I would stay again though as it is well priced and has everything you need. Also a nice swimming pool for guest use right outside the front door of the unit.

I've stayed here 2 times in the past months, and on both occasions 2 nights. The rooms are a little outdated, but ab-so-lutely spotless and very well maintained. On top of that, the owners are amazing and will certainly go the extra mile for you.Finally, don't blame the motel for being in Dargaville ;-)

Great experience here. Could use an air conditioner and perhaps a hotplate but it's definitely a nice place to stay for a while

Hobson's Choice Motel
Unfortunately this did not meet our needs. The rooms do not have air conditioning and it’s a very hot day. They are dated. Curtains have broken hooks so they hang from the track. We asked to book in early and we’re told it wasn’t allowed because they needed to clean the room from the night before’s guests, yet we had given them a couple of hours notice so I’m pretty sure they could have cleaned our room before others just to make a customer happy - going the extra mile! Would not recommend.
