Went on the tour of the Stockton Open Cast Mine and it was amazing. Our guide was so full of knowledge he gave us a real insight into the workings of the mine.

Johnny's Journey with Mickey was one of our highlights on our 3-weeks-round trip through NZ.We were part of a rather small group of 6 participants and Mickey showed us the beauty of this area, before he handed over to Johnny with his massively spacious freehold.I really don't want to spoil anything here, so I think I'm not going to give away any details. Just saying: to anyone who is interested in nature (and why would you come visit the South Island, if you were not?), this is an activity you do not want to miss out on! Be prepared for lots of animals and unique stories.

Fantastic day with Mickey as our guide. We learnt the history of the area and the mine operations. It was a huge eye opener to find out how the mine operates and the efforts the company puts into regeneration when they have finished. The trip in the Unimog tops it off. The day lasts from 9am until 3.30pm. The best $20 spent in years, and it goes to charity. Well done to all involved.

Trip round the Stockton mine - remarkable value for $20. Mickey was very engaging as a guide with good commentary and knowledge. Weather could have been better as the views promised much but would then disappear.

Had an absolutely fantastic day with Micky around the entire Denniston mining and settlement area. He's a very friendly, knowledgeable, accommodating and skillful tour guide and 4x4 driver. Highly recommend, if you get the chance to incorporate this into your Westport visit.

Five stars for this mesmerizing experience.Not a piece of nature offered to you where touring cars and lots of people are around you. No, here you are brought amidst beautiful nature and spot after spot will suprise you.If you choose to be silent there, all there is, is silence....Seeing red deer, moving freely around, ancient pancake rocks, maori caves and Johnny to tell you all about the valley he lives in for so long.The guide that drives you, will tell you about the local history, but also about plant and animal life.The best tour we had sofar in New Zealand!Tank you guys.At en Ernee

A very professional team who give outstanding service and history of this special area of the Westcoast. Mickey is informative, amusing and a great story teller. A must do if you in the area.
