Absolutely an amazing opportunity and stunning views! We stayed at the mud hut, definitely an authentic experience, which we loved. Having the outdoor bath was an absolute highlight. Highly recommend adding this track to your to-do list. Thanks for having us! Already planing to come back to stay in the slate hut next -watch this space!

Incredible views from the hut deck, and especially from the wood fired tub which is situated perfectly to enjoy the sunset with a cheeky red in hand. Rough glamping at its best, especially if you get the bag drop service so can haul in as much gourmet food and grog as you want for a special celebration.

Welcome Rock mountain bike ride (and hike) is a true back country 5-STAR GOLD experience. A ride I would do again and again. Tom & Katie are fantastic, the trail is mint, the wildlife unforgettable

Welcome Rock - Meet the High Country
A good tramp in the high country in sunny warm weather. Gentle slopes on a track that was easy to follow. Mud Hut was basic but adequate. I found difficulty in maintaining the fire to heat the bath water, so had tepid water rather than warm, but it was OK, given the weather. Hut needs a new visitors book (old one is full).

The concept of this accomodation is really good. The hike to the Slate hut was pretty straightforward with windy paths to the accommodation.The only downside to this place is it’s not well maintained. For the price we paid, I was expecting clean rooms. But the place is not kept clean.

Definitely a great view from the hut but it’s not maintained at all. For the price we paid, the hut could have had a min maintenance and basic amenities like electricity. Water is available but utensils available are all unhygienic. The only good thing about the hut was the walk and the view.

Fantastic experience, amazing views from the whole trail. Took our 4 month old baby to Slate Hut and Tom was very friendly and extremely accommodating which made it very easy. Highly recommend, amazing stay and looking forward to coming back

We stayed at Slate Hut and it was so good!! This rustic back country hut is very private with incredible views. We had no wind so was happy to enjoy a nice soak in the outdoor tub. The bike track was great and felt longer than the 27km it was. Would definitely recommend!

I bought a voucher for my Husband’s Birthday, it took us almost a year to redeem it, it was however well worth the wait. We added on the platter and breakfast options and bag drop. The tracks were challenging for me as I’m not single track fit, my kids 10 and 12 managed really well this was also terrain they weren’t used to. We loved the experience the history and how Tom had a vision and has through that created a very special experience.

Cant say enough about this hut. Secluded location, beautiful fire, sleeps four people in bunk beds, tons of firewood ready to go and an outdoor bath of all things. Stunning weekend getaway with plenty of trails to keep you busy.
