Even though there isn't a lot of choice in Hokitika, the 'Townchip' is great for fish, chips or burgers. We got two burgers, the Full Monty and Bog Standard. Full Monty had everything, lots of filling!My wife doesn't really rate burgers but she rated the Bog Standard well. At $8 the Bog Standard is a great choice. Friendly service and they were quick making the food!

Yummy fish and chips, very affordable and decent quantities. Has lots of different options. Would definitely go back.

Ordered the fish pieces, chips, 2 squid rings, aoli, and tomato sauce.Everything was absolutely delicious. The fish batter was crispy, the fish was cooked well, and chips were done to perfection.The service was great, but there was a bit of a wait.4 stars instead of 5 because the sauces are overpriced, $2.50 per pot.

Advertised as best fish and chips, sorry they were the worst I have had and the most expensive. Had Blue cod fillet with chips, fillet was sooo small and very greasy chips were soggy and fatty, my son had a hot dog piece a piece of fish and 2 potato fritters, all had no taste and very greasy, both the fritters and fish were very small. This was at a cost of over $30. Would not recommend.The owner Lucas contacted me and wanted to make things right, the options were another meal or refund. As I was on holiday and leaving the next day I opted for the refund which was then paid into my account. I respect this as not many businesses will respond in such a positive way. Will give them another go when next in Hokitika, maybe they just had a bad day.

I read that it's got the best fish. For $60 it was the worst I've had. 4 pieces of fish, 3 hotdogs in batter, chips and 2 pineapple fritters. The fish had no taste. The batter on the hotdog tasted like paper would. The chips were meant to have chicken salt. They were bland and oily. We were starving and still couldn't stomach the food. We ended up making another meal.They seemed like nice people and didn't look too busy. I did feel uncomfortable as we pulled out as they were all staring at us with the next customer.I would go to the next fish and chip shop!

Looking for a late dinner and arrived here just after 8pm when they were technically closed. Although the grill had been cleaned we were able to get some fish and chips and ended up with a piece of crumbed dory, battered local fish (Ribaldo I think) and a scoop of chips. $20 was fair for what we got and a good amount for 2. The fish was beautifully cooked, batter light and crispy and the chips perfectly salted.Nothing to fault from the service to the food.

Good food - just extremely over priced.Here we have a $16 cod, 4 x $4 cod bites and a scoop of chips. Total $37.50It's a shame because the food was actually good.

I ordered chicken and chips and got salt with a little bit of chips and a good amount of chicken (but also way too salty). All they offered me, when I complained was a serviette to remove the salt by myself (not really possible). That's no customer service. I could do nothing about it but demanding my money back.Burger was ok though

Love a scoop of chippies. When I'm in hoki. Love their ordering system if not having to go in and can just sit in the car or stand outside . Guess we are all like that since covid ha ! Bonus of the outdoor heater too . Great service great food handy parking. Looking at the other reviews you can't please everyone . Too much salt or not enough . To expensive ( hello inflation ) or had to wait .Keep up the great work team !
