What a surprise to have so much cool stuff in a small town. The chap that showed us around has been hands on restoring some of the old gear. He could tell us some of the background stories of some of the machines su h as the steam train they pulled out of the river.

Te Anau Vintage Machinery Museum
Found this place by accident but what an amazing little museum this is! The collection of old cars, bikes, tractors and tools is unbelievable, the whole place smells like lubrication oil which I still believe is one of the best smells in the world. Also spent some time talking to the guys who running the place, one amazing story after the other. Loved it!

Great bunch of guys who run this place. Super friendly and informative. Kids had a blast and we're allowed to climb and sit on machinery which they loved.

Te Anau Vintage Machinery Museum
By chance we called in to have a look at what was on offer at this Vintage Machinery Museum. It was a $10 donation entrance which was well worth it. The chap there was very friendly and showed us around the various antiques that had been collected over the years as well as providing some insight into the local history of Te Anau and surrounding areas.Would recommend a visit if you are looking for something to fill in an hour or so and have an interest in some vintage machinery and tools.

Come visit and see vintage tractors, trucks, cars and motorcycles. We were passionately hosted by Stu, and educated on decades of New Zealand farming, mechanical and cultural history. Truly a highlight of our Te Anau stay!
