Rivers Edge Holiday Park

After cyclone Gabrielle in 2023 February, this place was back up and running 2 days later. Fantastic community effort. Facilities are ok, Owners are really nice and welcoming.

Love the vibe here. Chilled out. Authentic. Not a cookie cutter operation. The cabins are old school. The band had great taste. Two thumbs up.

Brilliant spot. Serene and peaceful. Well-kept and friendly. Great access to the river and a huge green belt for the dog to exercise. Everything you need and reasonable prices. Would love to stay here again. Paddy was so welcoming and helpful. Llama friends to say hi to as well.

We loved our two night stay here. Very clean and perfect for our two dogs. Nice and close to home so we will return soon.

Wonderful peaceful friendly campground. Dog friendly and great area adjacent for dog walking. Facilities great. Paddy, camp manager, very helpful - went the extra mile in assisting us when our satellite dish wouldn’t go down. Highly recommended.

I'm traveling throughout NZ on a bicycle, while also doing a series of articles on riding here. Unfortunately, I happened to pick a 3 month timeframe where Mother Nature reeked havoc with my travel plans .... lots of rain. Lots! Fortunately, I was able to get a cabin here for 3 nights to 'dry out'. Owners are personable, and run the park with skills developed over many years of operating the place (heck, used part of my downtime to get a haircut and the gal working on me mentioned 'em by name when I told her where I was staying - icons in the community). The pair also have great people skills; handling well an issue with a long-term resident that had, basically, gotten used to taking over the tv room for his own personal viewing, and wasn't keen to share the programming choices with others. My cabin had a full size refrigerator which was a bonus; water pressure and hot water (important to most of us) in the showers was exceptional. It's definitely worth a visit to the town's museum that's a 5 minute walk from campground (see pics). Now, if they only could get it to stop raining:)

Quiet little spot with everything you need including water and dump station for self contained units (free use with stay) 2 showers, toilets, kitchen and a lounge included in the 17.50 cost per person for a powered site. Dogs allowed and free (many a pooch roaming around and all lovely) Dryer and washer 3 dollars each per use and take big loads. Great for a night to clean clothes and bodies while exploring. We just rocked up and asked for a space and we were lucky as they were on the last few. Will be back
