We visited Kiwi North this week and had a great time. From arrival, we were greeted by the wonderful Irene who took the time to explain everything to us and made us feel right at home. You rarely get that kind of engagement these days so it was a nice surprise for us.We enjoyed seeing the geckos but the star event was of course the kiwi house, where we spent most of our time watching! We arrived just in time for feeding time which I recommend you do the same. After that, we spent some time exploring the exhibits upstairs and the grounds. It’s very good value for money and the perfect activity for a rainy day!

This is the best school holiday destination for younger kids up to about 8 years old. On Wednesdays till 2pm in the school holidays there are miniature trains, a big train and tractor rides. All $2 or $2.50 each and kids ride free. There's a gorgeous model railway, too, complete with Thomas and Percy. Bring your lunch to one of the many picnic areas and enjoy a low cost day out! (NB. The kiwi house is more expensive)

Cool little place. Saw the Kiwi, have to wait quietly in the dark room and it came out for a walk along the glass window. Interesting displays at the museum and had a little ride on the old train. Cool model train display too!

We went on a Monday afternoon and it was super quiet. The kiwi was worth the visit by itself. We spend about 20 minutes watching Disco the kiwi running around in her enclosure, coming right up to the window rooting for bugs. I didn't know kiwis were so energetic!Staff were super friendly and helpful, both the person behind the counter and the conservation person who fed the kiwi.

Been here with my husband and was lovely place to spend on your weekend..The kiwi so cute, you can see them cleary during lunch hour. There is two of them, and they will come out for eat or walk around their cage. Also there is a walk path behind the museum which is very nice too.We spend an hour doing whole tour and was worth it..

Really great place! Maybe we were just lucky, but we saw the (solitary) female kiwi very active, feeding, moving around, running sometimes, coming right up to the glass to tap-tap for something to eat. A nice-looking environment for her as well: significant amount of space and plenty to explore. Friendly, helpful staff as well. The other exhibits were good, and the museum, but overshadowed by Disco the kiwi :).We didn't have enough tome to explore the Heritage Park, but that looks really good as well.Undersold we thought! Highly recommended.

We saw the new boy kiwi! He came out of his burrow just after his 3 o’clock feeding time. All the staff are so informative, about the grounds, the animals and the kiwis! The feeder even came out to talk with us about the new kiwis!A must see for the whole family!

The kiwi named “disco” at the time of our visit was just unbeliavable. The sanctuary itself is 5/5. Amazing place to visit during bad weather. Nice culture museum too (takes about 40 minutes if you go thoroughly). The gardens and amenities would be great but unfortunately every house was “locked”. So its not like you would go into the “old barn” or anything. Not sure if it was due to our visit during public holiday but it felt kinda “empty” and believe me. Me and my gf were looking. No trains at the time of our visit either. Maybe could be displayed if not in use. :(The kiwi feeding at 3 pm.+ even just for the kiwi, its worth it!+ just amazing gift shop with reasonable prices!+ amazing staff+ toiletes- other amenities (for 20 dollars/adult you dont see much)+ sanctuary- no trains :(

I got to see the Kiwi! Plan to come at around 2.45 pm to catch the feeders! The museum is also very nice but on the relatively small side.

Well worth a visit. Great Kiwi House, with cameras inside the den so you’re guaranteed to see something. Plenty to see and do on site. Really nice grounds with a couple of bush walks available as well. Not all the clubs are open each weekend (including the trains), so pays to check the website.
