Kaikoura Peketa Beach Holiday Park

We absolutely loved this place. Beautiful location, dolphins gave us a good display every morning, seal colonies just around the corner. The hosts were lovely and just so accommodating. Everything you need in town, fishing on your doorstep, what more could you ask for. Definitely on our list to return again....

Nice camp ground, well organized and clean facilities plus barbecue, fish fileting area and kids playground/minigolf. In the morning we enjoyed the dolphins swimming/jumping/playing directly on the beach with a hot cup of coffee, quite a wake up experience. We couldn't hear noise from the highway or airport in our campervan like others mentioned, slept in the beach tenting area. Recommend to stay here one or two nights on your way down to Christchurch.

A great campsite. Just a few minutes south of Kaikoura, only 5 or 6 minutes by car. The campsite is very pleasant, the staff is really friendly and very helpful. The campsites are always separated from each other by hedges and in this way very pleasantly structured. The campsites directly on the beach are particularly nice. The individual areas are also assigned street names. I had a site in Lovers Lane"

The best thing about this campsite is by far the dolphins. There’s hundreds right on the beach every morning which is pretty incredible. We weren’t overly impressed by the campsite itself though.The man on reception was quite rude and very unfriendly both times I spoke with him, the bathrooms smelt damp the whole time we were there (3 nights) and generally seemed quite unclean (there were always dead bugs and moths in the sinks and showers), our 2nd day the ladies bathroom ran out of soap, the shower only had one temperature (luckily it was hot but it could easily be too hot for some people, especially children) and was on a timer but that isn’t explained anywhere so mid my first shower it just turned off unexpectedly, the kitchen is okay and has pots and pans but no utensils and no washing up liquid, you have to pay to use the hose to fill up your tank (first time I’ve seen this in over 5 weeks of staying in campsites), and there’s no lighting at all in the campsite (not even solar lights to light up the pathway leading to the facilities).Overall it’s expensive for what you get and we’ve stayed in much nicer places for less

Always love this campground. Clean toilet block and showers. Well laid out. Camping beside the beach is amazing. The beach is fantastic. Easy to launch kayaks off and safe for the kids to swim. My daughter had a seal swim right up to her. It can be a bit noisy with the main road right there, but it's a small price to pay for where you get to stay. Wake up, walk onto the beach and have a coffee. Gorgeous!

We stayed here one night and I could have stayed a lot longer. The owner was lovely but most of all the view from our powered site was incredible, we saw dolphins having our morning coffee. The showers have to be the best on a campsite we have experienced, lots of games and things to do around camp. Laundry was great and everything very clean. Would definitely recommend and return!

Great spot to say with a fabulous beach to walk on! We stayed for one night in one of their cabins and it was all that we needed except we would have loved a couple of cups to make our tea in to as there was a jug at the ready. Great kitchen facilities and the toilet block was fine however I did not shower there as we left Uber early. Great undercover facility to eat your meal under and it seemed popular with lots of people chatting and kids running about having fun. Definitely all we needed at $80 for the two of us. Thanks Peketa Holiday Park and the friendly helpful lady on reception for a cool night’s stay :)

Amazing location, woke up to Dusky and Hectors dolphins in the water. Pots and pans provided in the kitchen which is nice, don't have to pay for a hot shower! The service was good - they were lovely on the phone when I booked. Would go again.

One of the worst experience camping in the south island!The campsite is decent but is horrible value for the cost:- No Free Wi-Fi at all, 5 more dollar for the connection- Very bad mobile connection, we didn't have any coverage at all- No dish soap in the kitchen- Other things, like water for a car wash, were addition costsAll of this for 10-20% more compared to any other campsite we've been in the south island!
