autoUnion Car Rental

I had a very good experience renting my car with AutoUnion. Customer Service was excellent on location and online. I caught a flat tyre and my car was immediately exchanged. Then the car key battery ran out and I received a refund for the replacement. I extended the rental period by 2 weeks and this was also very swiftly and professionally handled by the AutoUnion team. Return of the car was very easy and unproblematic. We were taken to the airport by shuttle. Only downside are the opening hours 8am-5pm but there are ways around that with drop off at another location or pickup outside office hours. All in all a very good experience, I will certainly be renting a car from AutoUnion again as they offer great value for money and really good support on location :-)

I booked the car online on Sunnycars. In the wake of showing up at the air terminal, I got a ride to the rental spot. For me it was not to clear which vehicle was the real transport, so perhaps having a sticker of autoUnion on the facade of the vehicle would be great. Other than that it was awesome! The staff was exceptionally overall quite supportive, the vehicle was a hybridcar, so it was very fuel saving and the evaluating was likewise extremely pleasant. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Pay more to go with another hire company, the car didn't have any issues and worked fine. However we were charged 25 dollars a day for insurance for which we did not need. I knew about the 3000 dollar bond which I was happy to have on my card, however when the rep (his name was Josh) saw my age on the passport he told me I needed to go for the second option. When I saw needed he basically forced me stating I had no other option or I couldn't get the car. Which funnily enough meant that I had to pay 25 dollars a day for extra insurance (insurance is already included in the rental price btw) this is also non-refundable. I tried to query one of the staff there on return who told me he would refund me and that Josh was a bully who is known for making you choose the extra insurance as they make commission off of it. I waited for the refund and called to check it was going ahead, I was met with a very aggressive man who made it very clear from the get go I was never getting the money back and how I was in the wrong, saying the fee was again due to the age issue. He even sent me rental agreements outlining the age limit, nothing on the website stated you have to pay the 25 dollar a day option if you are under 25. I have replied with emails but looks like I'm never getting the money back. So the place is basically a scam just to pay more for a reputable company that won't scam you! Also no doubt I will get a reply from auto union which will be passive aggressive and this again shows the fact that they are full of it and can't even make proper excuses for shoddy practice!Update - they replied to our emails saying it was all our fault and it was due to age for the additional costs despite again there being nothing on their website or when you get there so they are seemingly making this up.

This was the worst car rental experience of my life.Prepare to be:1. pressured into the expensive insurance options you've repeatedly said you don't want2. messed around with your airport transfers (nearly missed our check in times)3. randomly charged money with no explanation weeks later (seriously)4. talked down to by rude staff

Great place to hire a car. The cheapest in Auckland by far. Got upgraded to a hybrid which saved me a huge amount in petrol. Petrol cost me $50 for 8 days. Highly recommend

Avoid these guys at all cost. They will find something at the end to up charge you. They made it completely vague about the return time for the car. I went to to their place, and they were completely gone, then went to gas up nearby, and the pumps wouldn't take the credit card. Not only did one of their employees come by filling up, but we chatted him up saying that our cards didn't work. Did the guy give us directions to the nearest BP, no way. I even moved my car to let him gas up, but no help. Saw him later in the trailer, but did he tell the manager the trouble we were having. Nope.By the time you can gas up the car for the return, I went to their location, and they had actually moved sites. Had to follow the guy around, waited in the lobby, then after they checked everything, they stuck me with a $50 late fee. There is literally 100s of cars, and nobody around. Worst place ever.

dont rent with this company. we rented a hybrid car but the hybrid (the electrical motor) wasnt working so it used a lot more fuel than it should. when we told the company about it they wouldnt care at all and just tell us that it was working even though it wasnt.the car smelled really bad when we got it and wasnt clean at all - it was disgusting. two times whilst driving the gas pedal stopped working in the middle of the highway and we had to stop and restart the car. we can be really lucky that no bad accident happened. also they didnt care about this, they just told us that this is not true and has never happened before. it is super dangereous and the staff doesnt care at all.worst car rental expierence we ever had, unfriendly staff and dangerous old cars in bad condition not worth the money.Edit: The management mentions that they got a report after our rental. that‘s a lie. ten minutes after we brought the car back, the next client got it and drove away at 12.40pm. no one ever checked the car, they just claim that we are lying about the technical issues mentioned. please stop lying about the security issue.

Great and professional customer service. Nice cars and fair price. Sorry I just remember the driver's name who picked me up and dropped me off at the airport (Pinar) but thanks to the whole team!!
