Baker Cranes Ltd

Baker Cranes was originally Dominion Services which was on CHURCH ST , Onehunga and which was started by Mr Roy Baker a graduate of MIT and Auckland University Engineering school (Mech Eng I believe). Mr Baker worked indirectly on the Manhattan project when he was a Student at MIT.He was born in Argentina to a Kiwi father who worked for NZI. Roy served in the NZ occupying forces in Japan working on restoration of telecoms for the Americans in the immediate aftermath of WWII. After that he went to Auck Univ Eng school at Ardmore at the time to finish off the Eng degree which he started at MIT. He was ejected from MIT for drinking and other infractions but not before he did a large project tabulating Bessel functions to 8 or 10 Dec places which appears to have been ordered up out of Los Alamos.He passed on many years ago.
