Iron Transport
I had high hopes for iron transport. They offer competitive pricing, and are a local business which is awesome. Sadly I feel let down. Iron transport offered to bring a vehicle down to Christchurch for me for a discounted price as they were already doing a trip to Auckland. We spoke on the phone before I paid and before it was booked in. I asked about the process, and what rough timing would be and was told they’d let me know closer to the time, and that we could leave the keys out for pick up. I messaged my brother in law straight after the phonecall stating timing would be figured out closer to the time as per the phonecall.I paid for the service. A few days later I emailed asking for a time, and did not receive a response. I later got asked for the location of the vehicle and where the keys would be left but again never given a time for the Sunday pick up. Iron transport turned up at 4am on the Sunday to my family members house to pick up the car, of course the keys were not in the letterbox as we had no idea they would be arriving so early. My brother in law missed one phonecall at 04:16am, tried to phone back at 04:33am when he woke up but they didn’t answer. I received a text at 06:27 saying unfortunately they couldn’t collect the vehicle as the keys were not left out.Iron transport offered to bring the car down at a later time when they get another job booked for Auckland, however they had no current jobs booked so who know a when this would be. In the meantime I’ve had to pay $400 to get my current car fixed. My circumstances have also changed and we no longer require the car be brought down. Iron transport refused to provide a refund stating it cost more than the $1000 last time when they couldn’t bring the car down, however still offering to pick it up when another trip is booked (if it cost more to book it all the first time, on another trip they already had planned, then wouldn’t it be cheaper to refund rather than book it again? This doesn’t add up). I offered to take a partial refund; still a no from iron transport.I was never told the keys needed to be out at 4am or I would have made sure they were out. This is a miscommunication on the side of the company (I emailed asking for clarification re timing and never received this) and now I am $1000 down due to no longer requiring the car, plus $400 for needing to get my car fixed when the vehicle wasn’t able to be delivered the first time.I feel a refund is a reasonable request when the company made the mistake. They are offering to still bring a vehicle down, however not in the foreseeable future as they are fully booked with other jobs, and have no idea when this would be.I have no need for a vehicle to be brought down now. I’m down $1000. I sadly wont be recommending Iron Transport if they can’t provide a refund for their mistake.
