Matipo Park
This is one of Whanganui gems for walking and biking. It has been open since the early part of the last century. However the council has been dragging it's feet for unknown reasons in the last 4 years on repairing the bridge, and insuring safe access across the railroad - while a small bit of land crossing remains disputed. Consequently the bridge is closed (though some engineers disagree on the stability of the bridge). Alternative access to the park is difficult, but possible.
