Learn to Surf

I have rented from them a couple times and it was fantastic. The boards we used were great for beginners so easy to standup on. I also booked hires for an event for work and coordination was very simple with Learn to Surf who provided gear for 15 of our staff member. Everyone had a blast and the surf was amazing. The 3 hour hire is more than enough time!

Perfect place for our two sons (9 and 12) to try surf lessons for the first time. Friendly staff, they split up the kids by skill level and had a great teacher-student ratio (about 1 to 4 in our group). Boys loved it and actually got upright on some waves. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing private lesson with Mary. She was so patient and very clear with her instructions. Mary was also able to quickly adapt to my strengths and had me standing by the end of the lesson. Highly recomend

Both Grandchildren one was Adha had thier first try an loved it. Tutors were amazing at dealing with different skill levels. GK Want to go back.

I thought I'd finally get around to giving a review three and a bit yrs is not too long.What can I say, well January 2020, I was encouraged by a woman helping me through some very difficult times to take the next step from swimming to cleanse the mind and body to surfing.By February after multiple times punching in the phone number of Learn to Surf and hanging up before it rang because I was so nervous I spoke with Aaron who put me at ease about having a lesson.On the day still super nervous I was met by a kind soul Brittany who took me out in the water, and I loved it.Something sparked deep inside of me that day, which has had the most profound effect on my life.Words fail to convey just how much that day has radically altered the trajectory of my life, except to say I'm not sure I would have pulled through.What started with a lesson with Britt led to more lessons with Britt, Minnie, Jax and the rest of the crew, hiring the old MF long chats with the ever so friendly Lana after surfing, eventually kneeboard surfing and a love of the ocean, and newfound zest for life.Now as a surf instructor it's an absolute privilege to share my love of the sport with others.My philosophy is simple the ocean is a gift there for everyone's enjoyment and the best surfer is the one having the most fun.Surfing isn't just a sport it's a pathway to a healthier more positive life.Needless to say I am giving a five star review to Learn to Surf it quite literally saved my life.

Amazing!!! Was the easiest and the best birthday party ever, there was no stress from the beginning to the end, the excitement and joy on their faces when standing up surfing for the first time priceless!! The staff handled everything from gear, teaching and safety they had it all covered and the other parents were just blown away. This was a totally very memorable party!! Best surf school on the South Island. I had a lot lessons during the winter and summer time. Aaron and his whole team are doing a great job.Very professional instructors, teaching in a very safe and fun way. I really enjoyed every lesson I had. Good prices for lessons or renting gear. They also have surf lockers, so you can easily drop by every time of the day.Highly recommended place!!!

Family group lesson for first surfing experience. Minnie was a fantastic instructor, made it a very enjoyable 2 hours and got all of us standing first time out! For anyone thinking of giving surfing a go, I could not recommend these guys more.
