Beautiful spot with a host who makes the visit incredibly interesting. Lindsay is knowledgeable, friendly and engaging leaving you thrilled by very dense historical info. Something I’m sure very few of us can say we normally experience.

Lovely little museum with a lot of history contained. The verbal introduction to the history of the place was a really nice touch. The house itself is full of historical items and is well preserved. Well worth the $10 entrance fee.

Visited last Autumn and had a wonderful time. My mother and I still talk about it but I think she had a crush on the host, who was knowledgeable and charming and really made the experience. Definitely worth visiting to learn about the particular history of Rawene and the Hokianga harbour, especially as one experience of colonial life and colonisation.
