I received a box of chocolate as Valentine's day gift. To be honest, the package was the best element of the box. Each chocolate was only a thin layer of sugary chocolate shell with syrup inside. They are supposed to be different flavours, but taste almost the same, cheap and lack of cacao. I wouldn't pay more than $10, but they charged him $55. The bad value made it an unforgettable gift. Oh, my poor Valentine, but I still love him.Warning: Don't buy them as a gift. The receiver will question your taste for sure. Maybe they are too expensive to buy for yourself to taste. Not all expensive things are nice, sadly. Hope this review will help you avoid wasting your money.

Was intrigued..All of their Hot Chocolate has a medium thin yet velvety smooth texture, carrying rich flavour..The Hot Chocolate Dark (NZD $7.60) has chocolatey bitter sweet earthy flavour, deep and strong in taste..The Hot Chocolate White (NZD $6.60) has chocolatey milky sweet buttery flavour, bold and decadent in taste..The Hot Chocolate Peppermint (NZD $7.60) has chocolatey minty sweet milky flavour, sharp and refreshing in taste..Fortunate that a piece of Gourmet Chocolate was served with each order of a hot chocolate beverage, so I had the opportunity to sample these..The Chocolate Dark Sea Salt Caramel features a fragile dark chocolate shell filled with thick sea salt infused caramel, robust with chocolatey bitter sweet salty flavour..The Chocolate White Almond Truffle features a fragile white chocolate shell filled with a crunchy whole almond nut, robust with chocolatey milky sweet nutty flavour..The Chocolate Milk Mango Lemongrass features a fragile milk chocolate shell filled with a thin lemongrass cream and topped with chewy mango zest, robust with chocolatey fruity earthy herbal sweet flavour..The Sausage Roll (NZD $6.40) here is a hefty fella, packed with tender juicy minced beef and diced carrots in a crisp flaky puff pastry shell. With bold meaty savoury salty spice vegetal sweet bready flavour, this sausage roll was rather filling for a snack, doubling as a light meal.

Super delicious sweets, the lemon cheese cake is awesome like everything. The taste is incredible, coffee has a great strong taste. I love the shop. Staff is very friendly

This place never had good coffee. But mediocre coffee for the usual price, plus a good chocolate, was good value. Now a flat white is $6.90. So it's just a ripoff.

A very quaint chocolate cafe. Iced chocolate was superb and chocolate selection is great. The cake we had was disappointing, perhaps they need a new baker. Nice place to go to though!

Wow that was an incredible hot chocolate. On a dreary Wellington Monday, we enjoyed popping into the golden warm glow of Butlers Chocolate cafe. They use real chocolate for the drinks and even gave us a little chocolate gift as well. Very sweet so I won’t be having these every day!!

Fantastic selection chocolate and accompanying / pairing drinks. Try the gin infused praline! The staff are delightful. Excellent service and friendly smiles. It can get very busy at times. There are great chocolate gift ideas available on display in store.

Starting to think that proper hot chocolate doesn’t exist here in NZ because this was another chocolate melted in hot milk situation, although at least it was hot frothed milk…. Was actually excited when I read the reviews but was sorely disappointed. This isn’t actual hot chocolate like you get in France, so if that’s what you’re looking for, then go somewhere else (or France). As a side note, the lemon meringue was horribly sweet - like marshmallow spread with some hints of lemon. I wouldn’t recommend it. We got a free truffle with our order as well, but even that was ridiculously sweet for 70% dark truffle. What a disappointment.The staff were lovely though. That’s the only reason they aren’t getting one star..

It's exactly what you'd expect from a chocolate cafe, chocolate, and hot drinks. Extremely well done. The chocolate is very balanced and nice as well as the drinks. The aesthetic is casual diner/luxury, gold, spruce, and black. Nice place for chocolate lovers, great spot.
