Smith & McKenzie Steak House
Was a favourite place to visit, but this visit I was let down considerably by the quality of the steak and surprised to be handed grease/oil stained menus. Our whole table received dry over cooked meals and the Gratin was cold in the middle. I would like to think this was a blip on the grand scale as this has historically always been a very good reliable experience. Our table service however was faultless.

In simple words, I am not returning to your restaurant any more, I went with my one of my friend who is visiting Hamilton considering you are guys one of the best, but unfortunately, the steaks were cold and looks like reheated (on the top of long waiting) and the little tiny portion of mash potato does not look alright in term of flavor and texture.Obviously the kitchen team is not similar to the previous team!We decided to not break our evening and let it go, however, we could not sleep at over night as our tummies went bad.You could resist and reject my review her and try to response in diplomatic way but you can not stop the fact that the food level is down the hill and far down and that will impact definitely your customers negatively and faster than you expected.Cheers.

Regularly visit Smith & McKenzie, my go to for a Friday night drink and dinner! Always have brilliant food, the staff are great and the whole place has great atmosphere with the fantastic live music on Fridays. Definitely recommend visiting. Great local bar.

Great food with decent portions, well presented and quite tasty, meat was tender and juicy and dessert was sweet. The onion rings weren't as good as they were before which was a major let down for us, nonetheless less it was still very good.

Absolutely the Best Steak in town! We went to Friday night Steak night and had the eye fillet with roast potatoes and prawns on the side, they were the biggest yummiest prawns I've had in a very long time! Absolutely worth every cent, all of the food was amazing and absolutely delicious! I Highly recommend this restaurant, you will not be disappointed.

Good local spot for lunch especially if your going for steak. Yummy starters and cocktails too. Pasta was nice however found a hair which was passed off as a mushroom or mussel hair but resolved by a fresh meal and discount. A lil spendy for lunch but good food and atmosphere, service could be improved.

Prime rib and lamb are amazing! Atmosphere is very nice and cozy. One thing that was disappointed is that baby high chair had to be washed after every use.

The prices will get you good, quality food, but not the level of service or professionalism of an expensive steak house. The tables and chairs are old and dated. The decor is fine but feels cheap. Waitresses do not know who ordered what. Plates served from the head of the table, and not to individuals. No enquiring if the food is ok. No manager touch point. Drinks are not offered frequently. There is also an out of place brightly lit bar with one run down pool table without chalk and gambling machines. Do not go here expecting to visit fine dining.

Smith & McKenzie was highly recommended to us by friends who had been there before. We were sorely disappointed to not have the same experience they had. The food was subpar - we ordered a sirloin steak each and the meat was tasteless. The mashed potato, easily the most tasty part of the meal as a whole, was scarce. Our sides - mushrooms and garlic prawns - were also quite bland. Very disappointing considering the prices of their food. Friendly service and a pleasant atmosphere saved the experience but we are unlikely to return.

Love a drink here. The quiz night was lots of fun. The staff are lovely, and the regular patrons are always up for a chat. Nice atmosphere ideal for families, too. It is a great place to dine in or to sit casually. Food can be served in either area, lovely deserts, and mains. On this occasion, I had beautifully tender chicken strips and Chipotle dip, a lemon sponge desert all washed down with a nice cold Tiger.Quiz night Tuesdays and live music Fridays are always a good way to end the day. Chat to the head chef if you can, top bloke...makes a great steak!
