Got my brand new violin looked into as soon as I got it, and they picked up on things we didn't initially notice. I ended up getting the bridge sanded down, soundpost repositioned, and fine tuners installed on the G, D, and A strings. Now it sounds better than ever, all for a very reasonable price. They even gave me a chance to try the centuries-old thousand-dollar violins. Will come here again when I get my electric and acoustic electric. Highly recommended.

I drop off my violin to put two new pegs. They told me it will take one day but after 3 days, they still haven't put pegs on my violin. And he start working on my violin after i complain. This was just fitting pegs without string. And 3 minute later he gave me violin with wrong size peg and charged 25 dollar. When i complain this is not right peg because hole for string is not in right position and this chinese owner told me to not come back to his shop.Of course they didn’t give me refund.They don’t know what they are doing. They are not professional and bad service. Do not use them!

I bought the finest bow today from John Hewitt. It was expensive and worth every penny. Now I can play string crossings in the Bach suites with ease. It's light and well balanced so that it gives me control even at the tip. I was pleasantly surprised at the sensitivity. When I aimed for an mezzo forte" it responded with such immediacy and with the correct volume it gave me a surge of joy! This company has provided string player across the country with good quality instruments that speak for themselves. Thank you John!"

Popped in with a broken guitar peg from a second hand instrument I bought from Trademe, expecting to leave it and come back in a week. Very friendly staff member fixed it on the spot, restrung it and also fixed the bridge, while I waited (about 10 minutes). All for less than the price of taking the kids to McDonalds. Excellent service, excellent prices. Parking was easy too. This was a reminder that little SMB stores need your patronage, and there is so much value when you take time to seek them out. Recommended.

A cute and quirky little shop, slightly hidden behind Fresho. I went there completely clueless as I'm just starting to teach myself how to play. Lovely selection of string instruments, great prices and really nice and helpful people - definitely recommended!
