Could be great, and the cabinet food is pretty good, but the breakfast needs to be rethought. Creamy mushrooms should not be about two button mushrooms sliced into a pool of greasy cream and spooned onto a piece of bread and two oil sodden Macdonald's style hash browns. But it was. This lovely place deserves lovely food.

This cafe has the most beautiful garden and the food and coffee is fantastic. The portion sizes are huge and the Banoffee pie is the best that I have ever had. It really was mouth watering! The weather wasn’t great when I was here and the garden still looked amazing. On a beautiful day this place would be well worth a drive from the city.

Great selection of your normal run of the mill food but all looks lovely. I had to sit in the little cabin in the lovely garden which was delightful. Food n coffee arrived very quickly . Coffee hot but I spilt it as table was wobbly . Room for the kids to run around, will definitely come again when out this way.

Great food and drink with reasonable Auckland prices, beautiful scenery and tidy staff. Great little place to stop by if you are ever in the area. Seats may be hard for the elderly and prams could get stuck in the path during winter rain seasons. Worth it though as the garden is perfect for children to play in while mum/dad sits down for a cuppa.

Got there 1 hour before closing according to Google. That wasn't the case the cafe closed earlier. Our tea was served in takeaway cups and my bacon and egg pie in a takeaway container. Customer service was okay could've been friendlier , the gardens were great

Such a lovely setting. Friendly staff and delicious food!!! Super fast cook! The menu was varied for everyone (including kiddies) and there's a great choice of goodies in cabinet too... which we couldn't resist choosing from and took home :D

We have enjoyed Calendula for many od. Unfortunately we with an inconsistent message on opening hours. I see this highlighted in other reviews for this place.Taking my elderly Mum here today for lunch we were advised at 1.15pm on a Thursday that the kitchen was now closed and we could have cabinet food only.Disappointed we asked for a chicken filo from the cabinet food to be told quite aggressively “no” the kitchen is closed and would have to use the microwave, followed by the lady in the kitchen screaming “what’s the problem”!!At the same time the kitchen appeared to be still operating as they were sending out plates of food and adding more bacon to the hot plate.Talk about mixed messages!! Unfortunately we did not stay as there appeared to be quite a bit of tension between staff.So don’t be fooled by the online and outside advertised opening hours. It appears that this can randomly change.Anyway I hope that they are able to improve the level of service - such a shame as it is a great place to visit.
