The Good Home Takanini
Amazing tasty food and the staff were very attentive, friendly and made us feel welcome. Me and my friends spent close to 4 hours there but the staff did not rush us. We throughly enjoyed the good food, mocktails and atmosphere. Coffee was not as great but hospitality made up for that.

Food, ambiance, and service was fantastic! Hats off to the lady who always kept an eye out for us :) For mains we ordered surf n' turf and the lamb shank. Both tasted really good and serving size was pretty huge. Lamb was soft and tender, coming off the bone. We had the triple chocolate brownie for dessert and honestly, that portion is perfect for two people. I definitely think this is one of the best gastropubs there is in south

We been dining here from 6 years. We went there yesterday for birthday celebration the place was full lucky we made reservation as its only Tuesday night. The whole experience was amazing from start till end. Our group ordered 8 steak meals all where cooked to the perfections as always they do. Main thing about this place is there variety of steak meals and service they are the best in south Auckland area. Thank you very much for having us.

After several visits, the food has been consistently good with generous portions and service is excellent.Steaks are cooked to perfection and the pepper sauce is next level. Pork belly and pork belly bites are a must if you love the crunch of a good crackling.

The food, ambiance, and service was fantastic! Really liked the place.The food tasted really good and serving size was pretty huge. Pizza was soft and tender. One of the best gastropubs in south. Highly recommended.

Ordered lamb shank served with mash and vegetables.The food came in a pasta bowl, so it wasn't easy to cut the lamb due to the deepness of the bowl.The shank was cooked we'll that the flesh fell off the bone, however the tomato paste sauce was very tangy and slightly bitter and unpleasant to eat. The lamb had parts that were not seasoned. I found a big burnt blob of tomato paste which I presume contributed to the bitter taste. Overall I did like the creamy mashed potatoes and the 4 Courgette slices and 2 carrots. My friend ordered the 5 spices pork belly to which she said was ‘a no spice pork belly’. It came with fried potato pieces, sliced courgettes and carrot pieces. Lacked in flavour and overall meal was bland to eat.

We dined here on Mothers Day as a party of 11. We all commented on the price of the meals, which we found to be very expensive compared to what was served.The biggest disappointment was the seafood chowder, which was served in a bowl only 3/4 full. I counted four pieces of seafood and it was only like warm. I couldn’t bring myself to accept this, given I was paying top end prices.Our waiter was helpful and apologetic and on my request, sent it back to the kitchen.Five minutes later I was presented with a delicious seafood chowder! Lovely and hot, full of seafood and presented with the effortOne would expect. This one was perfect, but it was disappointing they found it acceptable to serve the first one in the first place.Staff were helpful and friendly, even though they were very busy. I still think prices are too high given the food served.

Awesome place for a Fri night.. I didn't make a reservation still managed to get a table within 5 mts. Very friendly staff.. excellent food.They serve one of the best lamb shanks in Auckland

The Good Home Takanini
Paid $38.50 for the fish of the day, which was pan fried salmon with a white sauce, mashed potatoes and a tiny serving of vegetables with cheese. I am not an amazing cook in any way and could have easily made this at home. Effectively a premium price for simple pub food. I paid $20 for the same dish in a pub in Queenstown of all places, and it was better.Service was very friendly.
