Fernhill Cottages

We had a wonderful family stay at this cozy cottage in the woods. The peaceful surroundings and rustic ambiance made it the perfect as our first place in New Zealand. The kids loved exploring the nearby playgrounds, and we enjoyed staying outside the city but very close to all infrastructure. The owner was very responsive and helped with any issue. Fernhill Cottages were a perfect find for us. We sold our house, hadn't brought our next home and needed accommodation for almost 3 months - with a dog! It was great to find something so close to where we previously lived and where we worked, but to be able to have our dog with us was the biggest thing. The cottage we stayed in was perfectly comfortable, with Sky Tv, power and water provided. We had extra's like a BBQ, storage and carport also.Colin and Kirsty are excellent hosts and ensured that we had everything we needed. It's a magical spot and we wouldn't hesitate to stay there again or recommend it.

We stayed with Colin and Kirsty for 6 months and enjoyed the whole stay very much. They are very friendly and have always been there if we needed any help. The cottages are well furnished and comfortable. The huge green garden with the trampoline and playground was always used and loved by our children. The location is peaceful, quiet and only a few minutes from Albany and Auckland away. We are very thankful to Colin and Kirsty for giving us the first home here in New Zealand, we will always remember them and the nice stay in the cottage. We recommend the cottages very much!

Kirsty & Colin made us feel right at home after a long and difficult journey to New Zealand. Our cottage was well equipped, clean, warm and pre-packed with food to see us and our three toddlers through after the jet lag. Our family loved the beautiful setting and the kids really enjoyed the play areas. They are amazing hosts and very accommodating which helped our family of through the transition. Our family highly recommend Fernhill Cottages!

If there were more stars than 5 - we would definitely have given this to Fernhill cottages. Never have we been treated so well for so long. We stayed at the cottages for over 14 months and were treated consistently with respect and as a valued customer. Colin always exceeded our expectations. We would recommend this establishment to all who enjoy superior service and care and who enjoy nature and the quiet outdoors but still being located on the doorsteps of all amenities. We stayed here for 3 weeks after moving to New Zealand. Colin and Kirsty are splendid landlords, with a good sense of humour and offer helpful advice and recommendations. They take great care of the cottages and gardens, which are peaceful and decorated to a high standard. We did not want to leave!

Absolutely amazing place to stay in between homes and our little dog was no problem being with us. So quiet and listening and watching the Tuis just beautiful. Colin and Kirsty are such lovely people so kind and caring.We would definitely stay there again.

We stayed at Fernhill Cottages during our transition from Christchurch to Auckland. We are a family including two dogs and what a fabulous place to stay with your fur babies. The cottages are cosy and welcoming and offer everything you should need for a very comfortable stay. The park like grounds are so peaceful and full of birdsong and a wonderful place to walk your dog or for your cat to roam and play. Colin and Kirsty are wonderful hosts, who made the start to my new life in New Zealand an absolute pleasure. The cottages are very nicely located just to the north of Auckland, well appointed and comfortable. I arrived in winter and the cottage was easily warmed, and most importantly for me, had a really good and powerful shower.The advice and kindness of Colin and Kirsty was first class. Always helpful, easily available for the moments when a new country presents those moments of bemusement to the unwary. My flight landed at an ungodly hour, yet they made their way out to the airport to transport me across Auckland and get settled. They are both a delight.The cottages are not far from Albany with all its cafes and shops, but in the country, so are lovely and quiet, with Riverhead Forest not far.I cannot recommend Fernhill highly enough for anyone who wants a hassle free, serviced and comfortable location to get their bearings when coming to NZ. After 11 weeks, I was sad to leave to move to my permanent home, and I shall treasure that time at Fernhill.Thank you Colin and Kirsty!
