A true 5 star hotel in the heart of downtown Auckland.Close to the waterfront and viaduct basin Resturants and barsHotels design is stunning, modern and chic.Nice spa with good massage service

We assumed based on price the hotel must be a cut above. It doesn't stand out from the crowd. From photos online I imagined the building to be far, far grander. In reality I was underwhelmed.The only two emails I sent to the restaurant department were never answered. It seems larger groups of diners are priority guests I was told in person / no email was ever answered.The sound at night from sirens and cars pumping music made for a far from peaceful night.The room was like most other places so no idea why the $$$ difference. Maybe just that the building may be considered chic'.What I imagined it would be like and what I experienced very different.Really not any positives.

Besides a rather strange and eerie after-hours check in process, we absolutely loved our stay here. Our room was STUNNING, the breakfast buffet was also good.Thanks for the thoughtful gesture to kick off our honeymoon!

The So/ Auckland is a chic hotel, welcoming staff, cool rooftop bar, comfy beds and a good location (apart from being boxed in by questionable clubs"). The free mini bar (soft drinks and chocolates only - don't expect alcohol) is a nice gimmick.A hotel also needs to provide a quiet room and a great shower. Unfortunately

Got a room for our first anniversary. Lovely visit. The chandelier is amazing. Used the pool and gym early Saturday morning it was quiet and the facilities are fabulous.

Valet parking say they will bring your car in 15 minutes and then take considerably longer - I had to approach and request my car a second time before it arrived.I returned home from dinner to find water gushing from 3 different places in the ceiling of the bathroom, most notably out of a light fixtures above the toilet - screenshot from video attached.It was lucky my GHD straightener, portable speaker, makeup and clothes were not damaged during this flood. I showed a video to management the next day, the water volume was immense.I contacted reception to notify them and after approx 40 mins with no one attending, sitting in what sounded and felt like a rain storm, I called back requesting attendance again.Eventually the room was seen and we waited and waited in that same room for the gentleman to return to take us to a new room.It took so long and by this time was approaching 2am so I went down to reception to follow up. Eventually we were moved to a different room.Upon checking out there was nothing said or done about this. We were still charged $100 for late check out, charged for valet parking and again had to approach the general manager ourselves to address this issue. He told us the occupants of the room above us were drunk and left a tap on and that ours was not the only room affected. He said the event was out of the hotels control and there was nothing he could to to make this right.He Eventually apologized for the flood which was the first time we had heard this word, and he offered us complimentary snack from the cafe. We had already made a small purchase from the cafe during our almost hour long wait so declined this offer as we were already running late thanks to this delay.Overall we did not feel valued or respected during our stay here. The staff need some serious training in customer service and empathy.We would never return as we were unable to get any sleep during our night here.We returned more stressed than when we arrived. While we were waiting in the flooded room I needed to use the bathroom. My partner had to hold a towel above me so water did not pour on to me.

I recently stayed here and unfortunately, my experience was not as good as I had hoped. While the location and views were perfect, the service and room were not up to my expectations.Upon arrival, we were given a double room instead of the twin room we had requested. The room configuration was awkward and did not provide enough privacy, especially in the bathroom. It felt more suited to a couple, not a mother and son.On the positive side, the breakfast service was great and the location was perfect. However, the overall service and room expectations were not met which was a disappointment.I would recommend this hotel based on its location and breakfast service, but I would advise prospective guests to be clear on their room expectations and to inquire about room configurations if traveling with a family.

Really enjoyed staying here for the weekend. Loved how the rooms had a complimentary snack bar. Loved the rainfall shower plus the rooftop bar. The pool and spa was amazing. Staff were so helpful. Would definitely stay here again in the future.

Great moody vibe and comfortable rooms. I loved that there were local NZ snacks in the minibar that were complementary.The location is central and walking distance to everything however there are clubs nearby which means that it can be noisy at night so remember to bring ear plugs. Unfortunately it was a clubbing night on my last night and I could hear it from my room even though I was fairly high up (level 8)

My second time staying here. First time was so good, I had to bring my husband back for a staycation! Overall a very luxurious stay: Love the complimentary minibar, service is professional and the rooms are quiet and comfortable. This time we ventured down to the pool, spa and sauna which was very relaxing! We even received a free drink from their rooftop bar on arrival which was Devine. Couldn’t recommend enough!
