Thank you for such an incredible day. The park is totally amazing, we were met by the owner who had so much information on hand. He gave a us a map outlining the walkways. We took many photos to show our families n friends. It is so worth the drive out there,15mins from Kaitaia.

It was rather windy and cool. The map was great and LOTS of postage signage all around. We enjoyed learning about the ancient Kauri trees and the gum diggers. The paths were very slippery so wear good shoes and take it easy. Also watch out for the gum digger holes, especially if you are with kids!!

Absolutely fantastic experience. We learned so much (I was today years old when I learned the meaning behind “gumboots”). The trails are easy to walk and beautiful. There’s lots of birds around in the bush, and the kauri stumps and logs were fascinating. A rich piece of history for a very reasonable price. We were there about an hour all up including stopping for lots of photos along the way. Toilets were also well maintained. It is a gravel road to get there but worth the drive.

This is an excellent museum to visit. You will learn a lot about the gum digging trade, and they also have excellent exhibits about the plants and animals who live in the forest right there. There. We saw many birds, and you can get right close to some of the incredible stumps from fallen Kauri trees.

This is a nice museum that explains more of the lives of the gum diggers and they would find gum. A nice little shop at the entrance where you can buy ice cream and sodas and some souvenirs

Amazing place.Really interesting and well presented information.Beautiful walk through the bush with lots of NZ nature and history.Took just over an hour at a leisurely pace.Outdoor and covered seating for a coffee stop. There's about 3 km of gravel track to get there but our campervan made it no drama.Highly recommended that you support this privately owned attraction. And brilliant that the dog was allowed to enjoy the walk and smells too :)

Nicely trying to preserve ancient history of NZ's natural resources.Entry ticket isn't required if you really want to see more people visiting such places. If at all required, must be restricted to NZ $1 per family or maxper adult.
