Clean facility. Very popular so can get overcrowded. Too many dogs or more correctly, irresponsible dog owners but this seems to be a problem everywhere

2 minute Bush walk to tidal lagoon sea birds heron spoonbills oystercatcher. Clean flushing toilets kitchen area grass camping areas.

One of the really good DOC camps. Not too big, just by the estuary, small camp shop and food cart. It’s great.

Great camp, basic facilities but well laid out and large open space. Handy to a safe beach, lots of trees, shade, and birdsong.

Basic camping on a do it yourself basis. No cooking or washing facilities. No hot water. Cheap though at $10 per adult per night.

Great parking/camping spaces, lots of privacy flax and power points. Facilities excellent, they actually smelled pretty, not just like disinfectant. Handy have a grocery store and fuel adjacent.

Papatowai DOC Camp
Another DoC treasure in the heart of the Catlins. Set in bush, with the estuary on one side and the Campstore and Foodtruck on the other, this is a great base from which to explore the area. Nice, clean flush toilets, basic amenity block and water taps make this a bargain for $8/night. Plenty of local walks and wildlife and the famous Lost Gypsy is just up the road.

A must see when on South Island NZ. So many amazing sights. The Campground is unpowered but have dish washing and toilet facilities. Quiet and trails nearby take you to some breathtaking views.

Beautiful spot, lovely grassed sites, clean amenities with flush toilets but no showers. Short walk down track from park to tidal estuary beach, main beach easily accessible along estuary beach on outgoing tide, watch tide as high tide blocks off park access track. Shop at park access is well stocked, diesel us cheap and burgers are gourmet.
