Horopito Motor Wreckers - Smash Palace

I loved being able to take pictures of the old disposed of vehicles here. I love taking photos of rust !!! But calling it a Museum" and charging $10 per head is a bit steep

My baby sister had a mishap with her van thanks to dodgy MF’s who didn’t fix it properly the first time, so she had to ring roadside assistance to come and get her, her dog and her van.Colin and his wife went above and beyond to get my baby sister on the road again and I just wanted to let people know this is the man to ring if you ever breakdown on the side of the road near Horopito.Thank you so much for taking care of my family, Colin. I really appreciate all you did to get her back on the road and travelling to our uncles funeral. You took a lot of stress off her and that means a lot to us.

Was as expected. Lots of items for older vehicles. Anything mechanically minded . Was here. Great people to talk to about the history.

A must visit if you love old vehicles . You can spend hours here looking for those hard ti find parts

What a great place! We completly forgot the time, there is so much to see!

Arrived as we was from well out of the area on a bit of a trip, so had to make a special journey since it had been recommended for a visit and we are all car enthusiasts, however, even after calling ahead twice to make sure it was open for visits, my friend had spoken to a guy that had finally confirmed we could take a look around, we arrived but it all seemed inaccessible, considering it advertises on the roadside as a tourist attraction, it didn't seem like anyone was there to help direct you to where you was allowed to go, the yards were closed off and so was the, what looked to be this so called museum of vintage automobilia? One guy did pass us but when asked again if they was open acted in a very stand offish way and was very unhelpful, who knows why! We took a little walk around the front of this place but still couldn't find a way in so we left disappointed, genuinely we was disappointed as we have seen the film that relates to this area and thought it would have been a great addition to our tour that we was on. Shame really as we was really looking forward to visiting this place and learning more of its history.

Have driven past this place for decades now and always been too busy to stop in. Finally I had a chance and managed to spend two hours wandering around the rusty chaos. I could have spent so much longer here, but ran out of time, so will have to return for another visit. An awesome and recommended experience for any car enthusiast.
