Listening Post advertise in Google search as stockist of Marantz equipment but when i tried to see if they would look at my Marantz to assist me to see if it had aproblem I was made to feel small and stupid in front of other staff in the store for choosing Marantz gear. Not a pleasant experience

Phoned to get parts for my pro-ject turntable , waited for a call back, nothing, secondtime this has happened, ordered parts from another place in otago, sorted in 30minutes, the guy in here thinks he is too good for everyone, even when in the shop he thinks he is above everyone and thinks no one knows anything but himself.

Great customer service. I purchased the wrong replacement stylus from them (my own stupid fault for not listening to them properly) returned them the next day and they gladly swapped them for the correct ones, and also took the time to educate me on the differences of the stylus. Very knowledgeable people. Thanks again.

Been in a few times. First time looking for a turntable. Guess the person was new, unfamiliar with differences between turntables which is ok. However, instead of trying to get someone who could assist us with specifics, he spent the next 20 minutes showing us around the shop pointing out the most expensive component's and telling us how much they were, as if we were going to be impressed? This was after saying were were new to the market ( for my son) and had a budget of about $800. Didn't discus the specifis, ( why they were good) just pointed to items and said their price eg this set is $25,000. Aftef 20 minutes it was really awkward and we left - none the wiser. Went back a second and third time with ordinary service. Perhaps unless your're in the market for a high end product their interest isnt really there. Shame, as my son and I were excited and passionate about learning the basics, and was hoping for specialised knowledge who could help spark that. He said he got better service for jb hi fi . Maybe just off days, short staffed etc but as it is a specialised shop was hoping for that to be shown in the service , not just showing how exclusive you can be.Addit :Did end up buying a good amp and turntable from them. Ok to purchase from , just missing that fundamental specialist service.The following relates to the owners response to the above review. He has since removed these comments.Addit:What is more concerning than the above is possibly the owners reply.There are no dates or specifics mentioned ( the first interaction was a few months ago) yet the owner recalls the incident? A none remarkable interaction which he specifically recalls? Wow. Thats more impressive than your expensive componentry.

I had a fantastic experience shopping at the listening post.First and foremost, the staff are astoundingly knowledgeable and know their products inside and out. They also struck me as highly attuned to their customers needs, and had a genuine interest in getting the best product for me. I was asked questions above and beyond the sound quality and style such as the aesthetic of the set up, positioning, and age of the listener (which as a lay person, I never would have considered).I would also say to the listening post I appreciated both the enthusiastic and relatable (to me) communication style of the younger staff, and the professional and incredibly knowledgeable owner. Both were fantastic in their own way.I had complete faith that they wanted to give me the best possible system for my needs, and weren't trying to upsell me or give me something superfluous to requirements.It is a wonderful and rare experience as a consumer to be able to completely trust a retailers recommendations and know they genuinely want the best listening experience for you.I bought an amp and bookshelf speaker system for my parents. They love it.I would recommend the listening post to anyone wanting a music system. Even from further afield in the south island, it is worth the trip for quality of products and service you'll get.

Great team that know there stuff !!Can't recommend highly enough, from design to install they are amazing. The team just added to my TLP install from my new build the quality and results are just brilliant!!I wouldn't go anywhere else.

I was struggling to pull all my digital and CD content together to play through my amp. My CD player had a USB so great for my now near dead iPhone 5S. It held charge for at least 10 minutes! Unfortunately, my new Samsung was Not supported" it meant I could play my digital music if I remembered to charge up my iPhone or play it or through my bluetooth speaker but not my stereo... After looking on google and YT for the cables and connections and ways to sort this

Never having much of an ear for sound quality I was after cheap boom for a 5.1 solution. Peter pointed me towards the Paradigm solution. The Listening post allowed me to upgrade the rears for a second set of Floorstanders which was appreciated. After throwing around the speakers and randomly bashing buttons on my amp, I was simply amazed at how detailed the sound was. Now the room has gone from a simple explosion fest to hearing the sound of leaves rustle underfoot, or the detail in songs that I've never heard nor spent the time listening to before.... truly listening. Thanks, Listening Post, money well spent.

Brought an old amplifier that has been in my family since purchased new in the 1970's into the Listening Post to see if they were able to get it up and running again. Absolutely thrilled that they managed to bring it back to life as it is genuinely my favourite possession. Also receieved some knowledgeable and helpful advice in regard to future upgrades. Couldn't be happier. Thanks so much guys.
