Ataahua beautiful setting.sea just over the dune. Family rod fishing. enjoying just hanging together. That promise of long hot summer days and warm nights.Remember sunscreen folks. And Slip slop and slap. Parents ask the kids. they know what those three s mean.

We stayed at a non powered beach side campsite. And the views were just brilliant. The facilities are great, kitchen washroom hot water and recycling. Book in advance, it was pretty full over the weekend.

Very tidy and cosy park, normally we don’t like parks that has a lot of permanent caravans but this place is setup so they are visually ok and tidy. Clean toilets and showers with modern cubicles, excellent! A bit noisy at nite from the Road and the train track but not too bad because the ocean waves are much more noisy! You can have a quick dip on the beach, but it is dangerous to swim because of a strong current going north, this should be in the park leaflet I think. Great fishing from the beach. Had a long walk into Matamata town along the beach, very nice!

amazing camping spot! nice clean, modern facilities and the campsite we had was larger than I expected! peaceful weekend away and a bonus that they allow dogs, so nice to be able to take them with you and all the other dogs on site were well behaved and friendly :) unpowered camping spot right on the beach, couldn't ask for anything more. really enjoyed our stay and we will be back!

Hassle free camping right by the sea looking out to the smoking white island and surounded by native bush full of Tui song . Crack up to see the huge wood burners going at 6am to heat the water, reminds you of days gone by. A real good bunch of permanent residence, we got rewena for breakfast and the loan of a charger as I forgot to charge the house battery and the lights were dim.

We were enticed by the beachfront description and pictures of cabins facing the sea. Phoned to enquire but no return call. Turned up, only casual occupants at the camp but were given a very basic cabin backing on to the sea facing cabin which remained empty. Our cabin was dark, view over the permanent caravans and so much noise from the road and trains ALL night. Water off at breakfast time. Owner rude.
