Whitestone Cheese

Great selection of cheese. Too many to choose from! Our favourite is the Vintage Five Forks goat + cow blend. So delicious! You can’t miss this place in Oamaru. There are signs pointing to this place (from the highway). We ordered the cheese platter with cold cuts and coffee for our “brunch”. We also bought scones for takeaway as we were driving north. They also have cheese tours and we might’ve done it too, if we had the time. They have limited edition and “rare” cheese selection that can only be bought from this shop. Staff are nice and friendly. Spacious inside and toilet is clean. A must visit in Oamaru!

We done the tour and tasting with Jim as our guide and Jim was an absolute character. Entertained us the whole time while still keeping us engaged on the cheese and history of the factory etc. Jim was able to rattle on about cheese without feeling like he was reading a script which is nice. The cheeses themself were top notch, we can’t say we have been converted to Blue cheese, very much an acquired taste but the other 5 cheeses we tried were all very nice. The staff at the front cafe were all very friendly also. Certainly worth a visit.

A cheese factory located in town centre with a small shop selling their cheese products cheeses are all hand crafted and offering varieties of cheese we took a cheese tasting platter which costs 14.50 with 6 types of cheese I particularly like vintage five forks which is to my taste highly recommended if you are a cheese lover and ever visiting omaru

Decent in store cheese options. The store is a cafe style so you can have a cheese platter with wine, or probably a coffee break. The cheese platter is a good price I would say. 14 dollars and you can taste 5 kinds of fresh and local cheese (April 2021).

I was looking forward to returning here after visiting 2 years ago and it was still very good. Really tasty scone and cheese with high quality tea. Great selection of cheeses in the shop. My only disappointment was that the platters were not available. At least I have an excuse to come back in the new year!

Delectable cheese shop. Interesting history and tour. Some of the creamiest and tasteful cheeses in NZ. Pleasant staff and service. Bought some scrumptious cheese for a picnic on our journey.

Make sure you check this place out - fantastic cheese! The tasting with wines was amazing - such a nice pinot gris was on offer. Get yourself the wooden cheese knives on offer too. The staff were amazing and nothing was too much trouble. Didn't arrange a tour but we wished we did

Great Cheese at the shop! The pricing of $14,50 to try six of the cheeses (March 2023) is fair in my opinion. It's not incredibly much cheese but definitely enough to give you a good taste of it.The lady behind the counter was really friendly, I kept talking to her for 10 minutes. Very competent and really nice.I can only recommend going there (if you like cheese, of course)!

A simply stunning response to my review. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE PRODUCT AND SERVICE!William of Wykeham created a proverb about manners making the man (person). I walked into the highly rated cheese shop to be greeted with nothing. No hello, no Kia Ora, no bonjour, just silence. My wife was keen on buying many of their products. She had to ask for a slither of a sample and was only given a piece begrudgingly. By this point I had seen enough of lack of customer CARE the young girl too busy cleaning and the older lady more intent of closing the shop so we walked quietly away. Thankfully not having spent a cent.Just a little nod, smile, hello would have been sufficient. However, no customer care.I would like to think that improvements could be made.Manners does indeed make a person.
