The Dog Den - Dog Day Care Takapuna

Terrible! We called the dog den and had an extensive conversation about wanting to bring our pup in for boarding, and they suggested a trial. We explained how our dog was a rescue and he was anxious around hyper pups and the lady on the phone was very reassuring and supportive and reassured us they would take good care of him. We go in for our trial and once we pick him up, we were met by a very rude and judgy lady, who was complaining that they couldn’t open up the park to hyper and chill small dogs, even though they knew he wasn’t good with hyper dogs. They took him to interact with the hyper dogs without our permission, and on top of the terrible experience, only then we were told that they didn’t offer boarding services due to COVID. Once we bring our dog home he was dying for a drink of water and I’ve never seen him drink this much water in his life! Sounds a lot like torture if you ask me! Fast forward a week our dog now has kennel cough which he got from the dog den since he’s been in contact with no other dogs recently and hasn’t drunk from any other bowls besides his own.

We moved our pup (10 months) to Dog Den Takapuna after he spent some time at a larger doggy daycare in Auckland. It took me about 3 weeks to make the decision to move our pup and I wish I had done it sooner. The team at The Dog Den are great, owner Steve is responsive and happy to answer questions. Trainers with the dogs provide lovely feedback on how your pup is doing. The space is large but divided into smaller zones with a reasonable number of dogs per zone so not overwhelming. I was amazed at how calm the dogs at The Dog Den were, and they all seemed very comfortable in the space. Price wise the center is very competitive and opening hours are great. If you are looking for a new doggy daycare highly recommend considering The Dog Den Takapuna.

We love the Dog Den. Our dog started out at Puppy school and now goes to day care once a week for over a year and has a groom once every 6 weeks. He absolutely loves going there each week and the staff are super friendly and welcoming.

Our little Larry loves this place so much, he always looks forward to going and is so worn out from playing so much when picked up. The photos they post on Facebook with all the dogs playing is a nice touch, nice to see all the dogs having so much fun. Super friendly and professional staff.

Katie is amazing! Always does a really great job grooming our big Retrodoodle. He’s always excited to see her when we arrive and he leaves looking amazing and as bouncy and cheery as he arrived! Thanks Katie! We recently moved to Australia and used a groomer here and it really made us realise how lucky we were with Katie!

I recently adopted a young and quite a large rescue dog which is very exciting. After a lot of research I decided to put him into daycare with The Dog Den quite early on, as he loves other dogs and other humans and sitting next to me in the office all day isn't fair on him. As a new dog owner I was pleased to receive great advise on the phone from one of the team members. I was quite stressed at the time as I wanted my dog to be happy and I wasn't too sure about my next steps. I received great advise, a practice day for my Bo and verification that my doggie is great with other dogs. Within the shortest amount of time I have seen such a difference in him. He is calmer, more responsive and more gentle. He is sooo excited to go to daycare and comes home smiling, happy and tired. He gets lots of playtime during the day and cuddles from his carers when he needs them. The best decision I made and worth every cent. Thank you Dog Den Team!

My lab has been going to The Dog Den - Takapuna for over 6 months now. She loves every second of it and goes twice a week. The team at Dog Den are simply phenomenal. Owners Steve and Helen are THE experts with all the know-how, a wealth of experience and big hearts. I highly highly recommend!

We firstly booked puppy preschool at Takapuna. We were so surprised to receive a welcome package on the first day. (Black hawk!!) On the graduation day, my pup received handmade toy from the instructor (Lyn). During the course, we learnt a lot training tips from Lyn, and my pup also had socialisation with other pups. If we didn't book this course, my pup would miss socialisation window and we don't know how to train our puppy. This course really helped us a lot. After course, we booked half day free trial, and settled my pup in this daycare. The staffs are friendly and professional. They are our lifesaver. Highly recommended dog den Takapuna.

We booked a puppy class for Monday evenings and we love it! Staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. They sent us notes and we got a goodie bag to take home. Haven't booked the day care yet but the facilities looks nice and clean.
