Shop and cafe selling and serving organic food. Visited once for lunch. Lots of laminated signs in the small space. Found the foodstuff they sell very expensive, but it's a big variety of things, nicely presented. Cannot say the same for my food. I had a beetroot soup which tasted nice, but was served in a square steel bowl. The Chai tea had a soupy consistency and too much tumeric. They offer catering, but provide no menus or price lists (even on their website), which might be because they buy seasonally, but is not helping if customers have to call and inquire. The service was friendly.

We went for Thursday dinner, it was delicious! The food is amazing, especially the pork belly and lemon dessert. Service is great and you can tell so much thought and care is put into every menu item. Highly recommend :)

I cannot write enough about how delicious and great BearLion food is. On a scale from 1-5, I would give it an eleven. For us living in the Richmond Nelson area, we have one of the best chefs in New Zealand living outside of the beautiful village of Moutere! After a long week, BearLion is willing to prepare your Friday supper for pickup, which you serve in the comfort of your own home. Lovely meals with amazing salads and soups. Try the ‘Smashgams’ for dessert!Also, I have had BearLion caterer family meals after an injury and it was incredible. Healthy, whole food, and organic meals from one of our best chefs! A really pleasant surprise in New Brighton. Only knew it was there due to an article I'd read some time ago. Really enjoyed our lunch...we had four different salads between the two of us and shared...delicious. Worth taking the trek out there...and having a stroll along the beach after.

This fabulous cafe and deli by the beach is perfect for anyone wanting high class healthy food, or just something interesting to try. This is food with soul. I can’t even describe how good this food is. When I first tried Bearlion salads I’d never had anything like it, but I’m totally hooked now. The chutneys, relish, chilli jam and muesli slices are just divine. This food is a must try. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Most amazing food! We had BearLion cater our wedding this year in Nelson. We did it picnic style and they presented the food so nicely, and were also easy and flexible to work with throughout covid changes!And of course the food was soooo delicious, we just wanted to keep eating! Reasonably priced and totally worth it.

Because their price is higher than most for similar food I've been avoiding this place. I know they use quality ingredients, but it's still too steep for what they offer. I've heard great things from different people too, so I was relatively easily convinced we should finally go there for lunch, so we did and offered a triple salad. $18 for three portions of salad, two of which were underwhelming. Add to that finding baking paper in the food and it's confirmed this place as a one-time visit. One time too many.

My oh my. I've never had a salad as delicious as what I had at BearLion. Calling the food here high quality doesn't really do it justice. Some sort of wizardry occurs in that kitchen. I initially felt it was expensive but it well worth the price as I left feeling 'nourished', which isn't really a word I use lightly, if at all.
