Had we read the reviews i doubt we would have booked there. But in its favour manager responded well,room was clean, bed very comfortable but never realised no service unless requested. Location was stunning but many rooms being refurbished. All units have been very well used so doors n windows were a bit insecure.

Half Moon Bay Motel (Auckland)
The hotel is located near the beach, and there are many restaurants nearby. The scenery is beautiful, and the rooms are kept very clean. The staff is friendly, and I had a wonderful night here. I will choose this hotel for my next stay.

Excellent stay - Back for a 2nd time and this time with our kids and small dog and our room was perfect! large room for us all and very new and clean and comfortable. lovely staff too always makes us feel so welcoming. will definitely be back. we highly recommend!!

Booked a room then a family emergency came up so called straight back to cancel and they still charged my card for a nights stay. Tried to be polite and reason but the owner, an incredibly rude Chinese woman refused to listen. Even earlier when they showed me the room I was hesitant as it was dirty and had a general unclean smell. I've encouraged many people I know to stay clear of this horrible place. Perhaps the owner needs to learn about common courtesy and customer service.

Theft from our room! Despite our room being securely locked it was entered on Saturday night while we were at a family birthday party nearby.Approx $3k worth of precious jewellery,perfume and prescription woman’s sunglasses were stolen.Obviously someone with access to a key or the skill to enter without a key was the perpetrator.These were well hidden in a handbag and stored in the ironing board/coat hanger cupboard and not susceptible to a opportunistic theft.The manager claimed this was a first,however google reviews show another theft incident on the same night and two similar incidents a year ago.The CCTV advertised on our room back door was inadequate and only covered the reception area we were advised,so was of no use in helping to solve the crime.The room was tired and smelt musty,the entrance door and windows were filthy.The exterior veranda of the room needed a good water blasting to rid cobwebs and the grounds were generally scruffy and not as advertised on Booking Dotcom.Certainly not a Motel we would consider booking again…

Absolutely horrific!! Our valuables were stolen from our securely locked room!! Not safe to stay here. Owner admitted he doesn’t know who has keys to the rooms. Also didn’t care at all about what happened and refused to take any responsibility!! Police investigation is underway. This happened to another person 2 months previously. Ongoing by the looks of it.

Had booked online for a family stay and turned up to a room that didn’t even look like it was in the same motel. Run down, tired, and grubby.The smell of animal odour and damp materials was so strong that my husband couldn’t stay in the room without wanting to be sick.We’re never given another option. Asked for a refund and were told they couldn’t do that.Had booked and paid for two nights.Motel is used as emergency accommodation with animals roaming everywhere.Communication is terrible, the manager didn’t want to know us when we said we weren’t happy and didn’t want to try help.Would not recommend staying here.

Worst house on the best street, staff were ok. Room wasn’t ready. Got offered another room which was like a college flat. I asked for refund got told no, so we waited to see the other room. Which was a lot nicer. Rooms had mink blankets which is odd, so we went and brought our own blankets . Sheets were clean at least, Room stunk of dog which we found out once we moved in for the night . set my allergies off nicely, If we didn’t arrive late in arvo I would of gone else where. Place looks like state housing on the inside.Cheap and nasty accommodation I will never be staying again

My husband booked us a room for 2 nights but, we only stayed for one night and quickly checked out once after discovering items were taken from our room while we were out. Theft!No footage because no camera/s on our room.CTV only around the reception area.Also, NO smoke alarms!Disappointing!
