Brilliant history, and would have loved a ride in the biplane... if I wasn't a big chicken. Cafe is a must- great food there

Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre
Such a wonderful museum with knowledgeable and lovely staff! An awesome family visit, learning about various aircrafts and a train with a steam engine.We were treated to one of the aircrafts taking off and landing whilst we were visiting. There is a charming cafe/restaurant, as well as a retail boutique by the museum.

I’ve always just driven through Mandeville and never really stopped. Glad I did!Was looking for something to do with the family and everyone really enjoyed the heritage centre. Great restoration work and museum of old planes. The lady working there was great and very helpful.

Cool place to visit.Very cool seeing some of the old aircraft - even had on of the last of New Zealands airforce planes the Aermacchi.Worth a look and a visit and adding a Rail museum to the place will just add value.The original Kingston Flyer on display after some brilliant restoration work.

Croydon Aviation Heritage Centre
NZ has a fascinating aviation history dating back to the Wright Brothers flights in late 1903. Croydon has a collection of aircraft that ties to this history. A number of these aircraft still fly and you can take a ride in history.

Great spot to look at planes and the history of pilots from the area. Art gallery and shop on site also. Was disappointed I could not have a flight in a biplane, they are grounded at present. Pays to ring first to see if they are flying. Airplane Restoration off-site costs bit more is privately owned, reception needs to ring them first to see if it's okay. The entrance in get in was $12. Lovely cafe next door with homemade goodies, and a shop which you can visit too

Went for the summer train running day at the Waimea Plains Railway, but the planes are lovely to enjoy too! Very unique to NZ history and it's very nice to get to be up close to the planes.
