Really pretty spot. Great for water sports, wee jetty has 3 swings nearby. Was super busy at new year, pretty crowded, very noisy but it was new year. Facilities were ok, rubbish and recycling spots which were collected frequently, flush toilets, couple of water supplies and shelters. Camping $8 per adult, $4 for kids, under 5 free. Lots of little coves to explore, views are beautiful

Lovely DOC camp ground. Not able to book but plentiful areas. Maybe very busy over public holidays. Only $10 a night.

Loved this campsite. Lovely clean shelter with sink and picnic tables. Lake is gorgeous. Highly recommend jumping off the Jetty. A gorgeous spot to stop on the West Coast Wilderness Trail.

Today we walked around the lake. The side with the bush track was stunning with hundreds of ancient Rimu trees. The walkway through the bush was 12.5km. All the side streams have wooden bridges. It's a well maintained track following the lake edge. There are numerous small stony beaches suitable for swimming and picnicking.

Beautiful view on the lake, heaps of spots to pitch your tent or sleep in your camper van and as most of the DOC campsites, it is very clean which is really enjoyable. Great but demanding walk up to mount Tuhua (7hours return), with amazing views on the lake and hokitika. Definitely worth it!

Beautiful sheltered camp ground within minutes walk from the lake. Wonderful bird life, bins around the campground and toilets but they do take abit of finding (they are nearer the lake prior to entering the campground). Very relaxing spot, bring your insect repellant

The DoC camping ground at Lake Kaniere is superbly suited by this lovely lake overlooked by mountains and surrounded by forests. Between Christmas and New Year it was rather busy so our neighbours were quite close. It is particularly stunning in the morning.

Beautiful location and good amenities but way too crowded... It seemed like nobody told DOC, as they showed it as only about 20% booked
