Lyttelton Timeball Station
If you want a view of the port and surrounding area this is the place to come. Kids had a great time watching container ships being loaded. Park just off the road and it’s a short walk up the hill. Nice bit of history with information boards to read what the Timeball was all about. Worth visiting if you are in the area

Pleasant walk through a residential area on the way. Great view of the port. Interesting displays on early shipping in the area. Walk up not recommended for the mobility impaired. Would come here again.

Drove right past the entrance the first time. Alot of history in one spot - was a mini castle until the earthquakes. Still functioning piece of maritime history.

This was an interesting place. Parking is a little way up on the opposite side of the road, the Time all is above it. It's a one way street, so you carry on the same direction then it will put you back in town.

Really interesting historical site with fabulous views back over the harbour and surrounds.Site was damaged by the earthquake but had been wonderfully restored with plenty of information placards about the history of the site. But for this one, honestly it’s the view which is worth the hike up the mountain for.Fabulous spot!!!
