Dude, this Mexican restaurant in Rotorua is off the chain! I've tried a bunch of other Mexican spots in New Zealand, but this one is the bomb. Eduardo, the owner, is super cool and makes you feel like you're part of the familia.The food is what really sets this place apart though. The tacos are bursting with flavor, salsas are fresh as, and they've got some seriously tasty vegan options. Trust me, even if you're not a vegan, you'll want to try them out.The atmosphere is chill and the drinks are delish too. I highly recommend the sangria they offer.If you're in Rotorua and craving some authentic Mexican food, you gotta hit up this spot. It's the best in town, hands down.

There were a few reasons I’m giving a 3 score here. I got the Paella and it was too dry compared to all the Paella I had tried before. The other thing is they served water in an empty tequila bottle, which is fun in the first look, but then you need to make sure kids understand that it’s not always ok to drink out of those bottles. Also on the TV they were showing Jamie Oliver program where they cooked squids alive and ate them half alive. I understand this is not a bad thing, but definitely not a good experience for little ones who get concerned about cooking live animals.The food took very long to be served, which is partly acceptable for a busy Saturday night, but still the wait was more than expected.Otherwise, we enjoyed the food and the experience.

El Mexicano is a very good restaurant! The boss and all his staff are perfect because of their amazing service, greetings, ordering and menu introductions, helping us to order the right foods. The atmosphere is also lovely, as it is very lively; accompanied by Mexican music and , occasionally, people dancing.

Incredible Frozen Majeritas, best in town.Delicious food.Andrew, Chris and owner were so lovely and welcoming.The place is just amazing all round and have live entertainment on selected nights.

Amazing food and great service. Anything on the menu is really delicious, the flavours are the best Mexican flavours I’ve tried and I live in Auckland. Would definitely come back next time I’m in Rotorua. Highly recommend this place, you will not be disappointed. The sauces on the side are also reallyyyy good, we bought sauces to take away. We went on Tuesday night and got to see salsa dance class!

What a lovely spot giving the chance to step into another world. The moment you open the door it just feels like you're in the right place for some fun.Others have indicated the food is devine, and I must agree with them. Our meals were delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff welcoming and attentive. But wait, there's more!The atmosphere is very Mexican and if you come on Friday or Saturday they have live music. That we missed out on, but I'm sure it'd only add to the fun.Also Tuesday night from 6 to 9pm they have Free Salsa dancing, and I can only imagine what a fun night that would be.So this is a wonderful and different place with great food. Thoroughly recommended.

Ordered fried calamari and spicy pepper as starter, then one enchilada of stewed pork as main dish. The pork tasted like hamburger in Xi’an. Very tasty.

Always a good time, you can't go wrong here. The food is excellent, the service is top notch, and there are salsa classes on Tuesday nights. We got a treat of live music on the Saturday night from the owner's son. Can't recommend this place highly enough for a good time in Rotorua.
