I have read through the reviews, and realised, there are many that just aren't true. The receptionists (getting a lot of flack on this medium?) in my 30 long year experience with this practise, have always been professional and friendly. The Dr's I've dealt with, without hesitation, professional, helpful, caring and knowledgeable. I fully recommend City GPs. Their online service is fantastic.

A bit confused with what happened there. I talked to the doctor briefly outside the clinic. I thought the consultation has not officially started because we were still standing outside the clinic. (See photo attached of where the consultation/conversation with doctor happened). I was able to mention the need for immunization then we waited again outside. I thought we will see him again as we have not been asked to be seated inside as I still needed to do general checkup for my child. Then nurse came out to manage the immunization. That was only when we were seated inside. We weren’t able to check up other things with doctor such as my daughtrer’s ears and potential food allergy. We made this appointment for a general consultation of her. It was just not handled well. But the nurse was really nice and was accommodating. Ali was very nice to us. She made the experience a bit bearable.Summary of bad experiences1. Made to wait outside clinic near exit bec of my daughter’s cold symptom. Understandable to some level but can be improved as there was some vape/cigarette smell at that time exposing my child to second hand smoking. I had to ask permission from the pharmacist in the pharmacy at the right side of the outside waiting area so we can wait there instead.2. Conversation with doctor happened in this area (photo attached) “outside” the clinic “while standing.” Already a red flag there.3. Never got the chance to have a proper checkup of my child by the doctor which was also the purpose of the appointment. The nurse had to reschedule us with another doctor to check my daughter’s ear as the the doctor left her to Ali without letting us know that the consultation ended.Improvement Recommended:1. If there is a need to isolate patients with cold symptom, find a room inside the clinic wherein the environment can be controlled such as not exposing patients (esp. a child) to second hand smoking.2. Seat your patient comfortably somewhere first in the clinic to signal that the consultation with doctor has commenced, not while standing outside in a public area outside the clinic. It is difficult to have a proper conversation outside the clinic.Overall, I have never had a patient experience during a supposed doctor consultation at this level.I hope this review can help them improve. Needless to say, I do not feel good about coming back.

I've been here for years and my doctors have been great but the reception can be impossibly difficult. It is rarely possible to get a booking sooner than 1-2 weeks ahead; they always get their billing wrong; and the latest is having to wear face masks - well after face masks were made no longer mandatory. Perhaps that is a general requirement at all surgeries. Nonetheless, I think the reception/administration processes could be improved.

I have been a patient of city GP’s for more than twenty years. I have had several doctors of the highest standard through this time.If I ever need an urgent consultation, they have never failed to fit me in on the same day.The website and “manage my health” app work well for things such as bookings, health notices and repeat prescriptions.

Receptionists were really sweet and helpful but Dr Sarah Sawrey was honestly the worst doctor I’ve ever had an encounter with. Incredibly rude, felt uncomfortable asking questions, left in tears thanks to her !

went in 3 or four times for seperate issues and received a dismissal or mis diagnosis each time, had a stye and told the dr she decided it was dust allergies and refused to prescribe anti-biotics woke up next morning with my eye swollen shut and had to go to another dr, went in for a mole check (recommended by a a dermatologist) dr barely glanced at it said it was fine, 2nd opinion dr in auckland removed it straight away as it had clear signs of melanoma, ive had friends book in with reception stating they want a general check up and upon arrival being told they only do apptments for specific reasons and still being charged.wellington needs another central drs clinic because this place is appallingly bad.

I’m naming names because I think it’s necessary so others can avoid my mistake, or at least be cautious.Always read the reviews! And don’t ask receptionists for their recommendations—I asked for an experienced GP who would listen to me, and instead I got a registrar (Javier Stroud) who made a crazy dx at my first clinical appt, changed my medication, overriding all other dx and information from my long-term specialist—and then refuses to accept or even acknowledge any evidence including what is sent to him by other health Pracitioners. SURREAL.He is, however, continually pressuring me to come in to see him for free appointments despite the fact I have repeatedly told him I’m not going to unless we iron out these problems first. I’ve told him that my concerns are about him, not my health. (I’ve had to go to an after hours doctor and then ED to get urgent treatment + minor surgery in threatre.)Funny that many of these bad reviews are replied to by practice manage Lorraine Wood—because she totally ignored me when I requested to change GPs, and I decided she didn’t exist. She replied only to hassle me to respond to a notification of an appointment that Javier made for me expressly against my wishes—which I have no duty to respond to. The has resumed ignoring me, including my request to complain.Under the H&D regulations we’re allowed to complain and have our complaints dealt with reasonably, but Javier puts all this in my clinic notes instead. It’s like the Twilight Zone.I’ve repeatedly asked their reception team and assistant practice manager to exit me and no one has replied. Have messaged another (experienced) doctor to see if he can help—here’s hoping. This MC used to have a good reputation—I don’t know what’s gone so wrong but I join others here by saying BEWARE. One of the GPs, Tony Jenks, has very good reviews (on a best GPs in Wgn site) and has been there a while. I’d say choose your GP, not your medical centre per se.Never had such a bizarre experience.

I've been meaning to leave this review for a while--I had such a disappointing experience with this practice in 2020 that I feel the need to warn others to stay away, or to be cautious. I arrived early for my appointment but the reception staff was so slow to check me in—I was literally standing in line at the desk for 10-15 minutes, waiting to speak with a receptionist—so that by the time I was checked in, my appointment time had started. As a result, the Dr. cut my appointment short. We spoke for perhaps 10 minutes, for $70 or so. Worse than that, she was extremely dismissive of my concerns and requests, did not order anything I asked her to (a test, or referral, or... anything), and was extremely condescending. She said she didn't have time to answer all my questions, and made inappropriate comments about my body type. It was one of the most incompetent medical appointments I've had. I had to immediately book another Dr. elsewhere to get the treatment I needed.I see that that Dr has since retired so perhaps when she saw me she was simply not invested in her patients anymore. It's possible there are other more competent Dr.s in the practice but the whole experience and reception treatment put me off investigating further. I've since moved to a suburban medical practice that I travel out to and am just amazed at the difference. My new Dr takes the time we need to talk through anything I'm going through, orders all the tests I need, the practice as a whole treats me with respect, and the prices are better.I hope this place improves!

Confused by the recent spate of negative reviews. Reception has always been professional and friendly. The three doctors I've seen since being with City GPs (for almost 20 years now!) - including two who have been named in poor reviews here - have consistently been kind, professional and thorough.

Very unproffesional behaviour from receptionist and the doctor I was booked in with. Doctor are supposed to have basic humanity in them but they were completely lacking them. I think it was Dr Rincent or someone who I booked in with, upon coming 5 minutes late due to finding a car park they cancelled my appointment and took the next patient, and when I asked about this, receptionist said they ASSUMED that I am not coming. In my past visits in have waited on an average 20 minutes each time past my appointment time to see the doctor and one time I was literally 5 minutes late they said they doctor can't see me anymore. Even after explaining them that I have taken a day off and coming from 30km away just for this appointment still she was adamant that doctor cannot see me anymore.Lastly Dr Tony agreed to see me, what a nice doctor and human being. Only reason I might come back over there would be because of Dr Tony otherwise horrible service and professionalism from a health care business getting paid from patients not like consulting for free.
