St Thomas More Catholic Church

Love the vibrant community, the prayerfulness and first Friday mass and benediction is special.

The church is well maintained and has been renovated with new carpets laid out, the sanctuary with new stones and centralised air conditioning installed. A crying room for babies and young kids is on the right side of the church. There are two masses on normal Sunday service, the early mass at 8:00 am and the second mass at 10:00 am. It can get crowded at the 10:00 am service so better come in early if you want to be seated.

Parking can be tough when it's busy, but it is a great place to pop in for prayer time. Also handy confession times. Though the line can get quite long at times.

Church was fine, but the toilet area was in need of a serious clean and tidy.

St Thomas More is a Catholic Church in Glenfield, Auckland. The congregation musters more than 1000 parishioners at most Mass services. Leading the Parish is a young, most personable Filipino Priest - Fr. Alfredo Garcia - whose outspoken yet winning ways has grown the membership of St Thomas More significantly, since he was posted there in February 2015. His homilies (sermons) are taken not just from Scripture but from life as well and so his flock can readily apply each Sunday message to their own life. The church comprises many different ethnic groups, viz. the diversity of the religious traditions within the parish is apparent by the celebration of the Chaldean Mass each week. A beautiful church frequented by a solid community. Coming here made me feel at home.
