St Thomas's School

Top School. It teaches me A lot of things. It helped me become better academic, sporting and personal well being wise. I will always love this school and will always come back one day. Also helped me achieve all of my goals, as some people may know as The kid that won everything".STS will always have a special place in my heart. Also the teachers are amazing and the people there are truly welcoming and super friendly and you can make friendships that will last very long. If your reading this

I attended this school from Years 3-6 back in 2015-2018. The community of friends I met, I am still in contact with to this day as a year 11 student. Although the great community of mates, there were things I experienced in this school that if happened to me today, I would have taken more seriously. I was never a top student, always up to no good and probably the majority of my time there was not perfect on my behalf. Despite all this, the school was poor in their pastoral and senior leadership team/system. They often managed things that did not go well, by often being blackmailed and manipulated into situations that would happen if I did not comply. Just things like extremely over the top consequences, meetings etc. Academically, it was not bad. Pretty good. I noticed the older I got the slightly worse it got, everyone I know that went through to year 8 said that it was basically free time all day, but I do not want to go there as I do not want to put down the school in any way and was not even there to even experience it. Overall, I had a pretty good time, met great people, met some staff I really liked and really disliked, but is a good Primary school. They taught me some good life skills to hang onto that I am grateful to have today. They have some pretty nice facilities for a Primary school and have seemed to make it pretty modern since my departure in 2018. Would recommend going there as it is a legendary place for a kid to embrace the common tradition of NZ primary schooling, I am sure that the school has got everything sorted that was not going great anyways. I hope I did not put down the school in any way, that was not the intention of this review. Just wanted to share my experience at the school.

If I'm being honest, as a past student, this school really wasn't all that great. Sure some of the teachers were really nice but overall they really don't teach you anything. Because of that I actually really struggled with things like Maths and English because they always put me with the dumbest" group for Maths and they rarely taught actual English. With Maths they never gave me anything to challenge myself and always put me by myself to work alone (or with a friend who was in the same group). Really did not help with my learning at all."
