Gary at Kiwi Journeys has great e-bikes - all Bosch having sold off the Shimanos (relief as we’d had a bad experience with the latter in Noosa).He was helpful on routes to take and advised us on timings for the ferry to and from Rabbit Island which operates from just around the corner.We did 40k to Richmond and back and I still had three bars left out of five having used ‘sport’ and ‘turbo’ settings much of the trip.A varied landscape including a stunning beach and striking estuary flatlands made for a thoroughly enjoyable tour from midday to teatime.

After researching multiple bike shops in Nelson my fiancee and I ended up choosing Trail Jouneys based on the great looking bikes and the great service at the front counter. The owner, Sean hooked us up with two bikes that looked almost brand new and rode very smoothly. We rode the trail towards Mapua which was great and then they have there own ferry service which gets you onto Mapua so you can enjoy the small town. After a few cold beers and a delicious lunch we cruised back to Nelson.Bottom Line: The bikes are great, the customer service is even better and the price is right. Great start to daylight savings! We were picked up in Nelson and taken to Mapua in the comfortable Trail Journeys van. We hired bikes and had a great ride to Kaiteriteri (beautiful scenery) We then went on a half day Kayak around Kaiteriteri before being delivered back to Nelson. Thanks guys for organising such a fantastic day.

Fantastic service from the owner who my father and I hired 2x bikes from. He gave great suggestions on where to go riding and was very knowledgeable of the area. I also bought a New Zealand cycling shirt from here and I love wearing it when riding back home. Both and excellent service and experience.

Great service, really friendly people, tremendous attention to detail, and really comfortable bikes for riding the Great Taste Trail. Loved the crossing on the Mapua Ferry - quite a unique experience.And Trail Journeys casual bike hire service from their shop on the Mapua Wharf means it is easy to ride selected parts of the trail. Great service and a fantastic day out with the girls on e-bikes from Mapua exploring the Moutere wineries and beautiful surrounding area. Would highly recommend and will definitely be doing it again sometime!
