New Zealand Kayak School

We came here in winter for a couple of days of lessons as beginner white water kayakers. We had a brilliant time - Daan and Jess catered to all our needs perfectly and we had a good mix of river time and pool time (learning to roll) - our kayaking skills improved massively in a short space of time. We borrowed all the gear from them too for the lessons. Couldn’t recommend them highly enough!

CANNOT rate this place high enough. Awesome location. Staff are amazing paddlers and even better coaches. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to sit in a kayak

Superb teaching, high quality staff, engaging learning environment. Cannot recommend this school any higher as I now have a bomb proof roll right side, left side and even a hand roll. The clear rivers are a spectacular addition to top it off

I was not sure I was going to enjoy kayaking as I don't really like fast moving water ... but my girlfriend insisted and it was awesome! The instructors are amazing, they know their stuff and always make you feel safe!I know its pricey, but it's well worth it. They don't push you (too) much till you are ready.Now I'm a kayaker because of them!

Utterly blown away by how much I learnt in just two days. I have a lot to do to put it all into practice... The staff are all lovely humans with exceptional knowledge of all things kayaking (and more). Daan's instruction changes effortlessly depending who he is dealing with both in level and style. Talk about meeting the needs! Champions, completely.

My son and I had an amazing time at Kayak School. I was relearning after many years off the water and my son was having his first moving water experience.The instructors are ultra professional, very patient and loads of fun to spend time with. They are all passionate about what they do and helping people learn this amazing sport.Morning pool sessions get your roll working well and taking it to the river embeds those new skills quickly. My son had never rolled before and after his second pool session was successfully rolling on both sides!The accommodation is perfect; comfy beds, hot showers and a large fully equipped kitchen alongside a huge lounge and dining area.Jess and Dann - the owners - are amazing - super helpful and flexible to ensure you have the best possible time.I 100% recommend Kayak School. Whatever your kayaking level, there will be something here for you in a amazing location with superb people.

Daan is an amazing teacher and guide. He uses his extensive knowledge to pick suitable rivers for the groups ability and tailors the learning to meet their needs. I loved my 2 days here and I am keen to come back. No hesitation In recommending.

Just did the four day beginner course. Couldn't recommend this place more highly. Had an absolute blast, learnt a lot and the whole team was amazing. 10/10
