VR Hamilton Hotel

On the plus side I was fortunate to have a room with a clean bathroom, others not so much. Location nice and central. The hotel had a good receptionist on at night, the lady in the morning seemed to be not too impressed if you asked her anything. Carpets needs a desperate clean, mattress protector, one sheet, duvet, and 2 of the 4 pillows dirty. Jug had burned milk in it. I asked the guy at reception for the dirt items and made the bed myself as he was on by himself, and he said that he didn't make beds. Parking is very scary.

We spend only one night in the hotel. The recepcionist at the check in was really bored and seemed like he did not want to answer our question. I felt like we bothered him with our questions (like parking and check out time). The room was quite okay as long as we did not see the hir in the bathtub.... More than disgusting. And in the morning we run into a staff member who asked us if we checking out, when we said yes, he was disappointed he needs to clean our room. We went to the reception and ask the guy to check out, he did not even look at us, he was watching his phone, and asked us if we left something in the room. Was so inpolite and rude....never again, not recommended....

We've been coming here for years to enjoy a night away together. We love the very spacious rooms and proximity to excellent restaurants and nightlife.

Shabby. Needs a complete refurbishment. The problems are nothing to do with housekeeping or maintenance, spend some money making this grand old place acceptable. Replace carpets, beds, furniture, curtains. Rearrange furniture. Make windows close properly!!! The rooms are huge but grotty. Maybe this hotel was bought as a going concern in its heyday but no money has been invested to retain its reputation. If all the other hotels hadn't been full, we would have definitely Not stayed here. Our travel agent booked us in, and we will be informing him of our feelings about this place.

an average of 3 stars seems to be recurring and not much has changed. the hotel had character, this weird elevator that clunks and chatters as it goes, massive rooms with nothing in them but red carpet and a bed, wooden furniture and golden mirrors, it's nice in a cosy 1950s way. then there's some weird smell, not old hotel character smell, more like somebody should've closed the lid on the toilet, and you get used to this pretty quickly so it's not terrible, but a freshness spray wouldnt go astray. when i arrived there were 3 people at the counter, 2 talking to one customer, one doing nothing, and it took them 15 mins to see me. they still asked for my credit card even though it was under a work account, no mention of what they use that data for no mention of when they delete such data, no mention of check out times or room service, just handed me a key and sent me on my way. the walls are a bit thin, could hear the neighbour snoring, chucked on my headphones though. plenty of restaurants in the area, one even attached to the hotel, which once again, no mention, and the casino across the road a bit.

This place did not meet my expectations and was inevitable as soon as I saw the reception area and heard how the receptionist rudely spoke to an elderly couple who were checking in.The queen bedroom we had was very spacious, the strength of the air con was amazing and the location was convenient however, those were the only good things about the room.The walls of our room had spider webs in its corners and near the ceiling. The walls also had very visible marks all around the room, including chipped paint and wall marks. The window had a sheer curtain which had a rip and looked like it had been cut halfway down with a pair of scissors, with drapes which were ripped on the inside. There was no temperature dial in the fridge, assuming it had been broken by previous occupants but the hotel had failed to investigate and replace it. The toilet bowl had stains and its flushing system was weak and slow. The shower pressure was weak, the carpet felt old and greasy, and there were ants crawling around the room. The tv was was small and channels could not be changed from the bed unless the remote was right near it. The online photos of this hotel are quite deceptive as they were taken prior to its now rundown state.I would not recommend staying here long term and am happy to provide photos of the room I stayed in, via email.

Let’s start with the positives Staff were friendly and helpful……Checked in no issues at all with that went to the room yes there were patched up holes in the walls place is rundown but it was reasonably clean wouldn’t say amazingly clean and it is very outdated. We did end up changing rooms due to the noise at 5:30pm from the extraction fans from the kitchen but hey for $110.00 per night or whatever it was I’m not expecting to be staying in the ritz you get what you pay for!! Location is absolutely fantastic bed was comfortable and clean I did strip it first after reading all these reviews. Yes it’s true carpet had stains and it did smell a little bit wouldn’t stay here with young children but if you are going to town to party and have a few drinks this place is bearable. If you are staying for work or a romantic getaway. I personally would look elsewhere.

The room I was placed in was very fancy and spacious! Really loved the atmosphere overall. Michelle, the receptionist who took care of my booking, was very friendly, professional and helpful during my stay! She went through the extra mile to provide me information regarding the local area! Will stay here again on my next holiday

Very Central and helpful front desk staff, however my room was right next to the balcony and the smell of smoke wafted through my room. The room was clean but desperately needed an overall of better furniture. I thought it was very overpriced and doubt I would ever stay there again.

Location is fantastic, right in the city centre. Parking right behind the hotel costs $20 day which is reasonable, and the guy that checked us suggested parking on road for free as it was a public holiday.Overall the building is fairly shabby. Had the feel of something that would have been fancy 50 years ago but now is old and tired. Don't use the stairs, there was a rank smell right up the stairwell, made us feel a little suck. Room was clean and bed was comfy. Heat pump kept the room warm, but a little extra bedding would have been nice. Only green tea but no normal tea seemed odd.Staff were super friendly and helpful, and overall we left pretty happy.
