Leith Saddle Walk
Stunning views of the city and Blueskin Bay from the lookout. An excellent track though the first half is very steep. Well maintained and a very pretty walk in the bush.

Great view at the lookout point. It takes us one and a quarter hour to get there. The walkway is tidy and well maintained.

We only walked a little past the experienced trampers sign, as it was raining and later in the day with the track starting to get fairly muddy. Very nice walk up to that point, along a well formed track through some beautiful forest. Moderately steep at the start but soon becomes easier!

Leith Saddle Walk
A moderate level walking track with a well laid track up to the lookout. The view itself of dunedin and and further north up towards blue skin bay is well worth the sweat up, however for those looking for a challenge not fully satisfied yet the advanced hikers track leading further up the mount is definitely for you, and will definitely not leave you at a loss for the view it supplies.

I visited on a rainy and windy day, but it didn't matter much as the bushes are high. The first 200 meters maybe noisy as it's close to the expressway. The further you walk, the quieter and better.

About an hour on a steep, well maintained walkway to the lookout, then continue higher for another hour and half on a dirt, sometimes muddy track to Swampy Summit for spectacular views over Blueskin Bay and I to the Silver Peaks.

Beautiful cloud forest. The first part is the steepest. It gets easier after the bench seat

A nice trail up to Swampy Summit through native bush on the lower half and alpine scrub/tussock once on the Saddle ridge. Exposed over last few km, but with some great views.

Steep but worth it for the beautiful forest and if it weren't for the clouds, we would have had amazing views from the cellphone tower.
