YMCA Accommodation Lower Hutt

Just updating my review as I am departing the Y, in saying this makes me sad to say goodbye to such lovely people from Sheryl at reception and her caring team that makes the ymca such a special place for me personally, to making new friends here and the values the Y provides, and this is why it will be hard to say goodbye. You guys are awesome. Being the youngest in the hostel everyone treated me with open arms the day I walked in, I will also miss the older boys on level 5 as they always gave a young fella like me advice on how to hold myself as a young man. And is something I will cherish forever.Jay.

Lived here for 3 weeks. The service and desk staff are so warm, welcoming, and give life to an old place. Important Note: everyone adheres to covid guidelines to a fault - everyone wears masks, only 2 in the shared spaces etc so you can feel safe in that regard. The whole building and rooms are unsurprisingly old, and adapted from the hospital so you definitely feel that when you walk around in the wide corridors and see the bathrooms. The room walls are SO THIN. You can hear your neighbours even if they're quietly speaking on their phone. Any sounds in the hallway also echo into your room which was annoying when neighbours would chat loudly in the halls. But the staff, Eduardo in particular, is very welcoming and friendly. They also offer free food (think boxed cafeteria meals) almost everyday which is really good for those who need it! Overall, appreciate the effort but visitors should remember it is an old building with limitations.

The accommodation is Safe, Friendly, Clean, the staff are SUPERSTARS I'm a longterm resident and am thankful to the Y and all it represents I hope it is still around in 50 years to keep offering people a place to stay.

Great place to live, very neat and tidy. Friendly and supportive staff. Also a good place for recreation as well ☺️☺️Will definitely recommend this place.

It’s been an absolute pleasure and warm stay at ymca lowerhutt. I lived there for almost 2years now. The management is absolutely stunning with their warm hospitality. The two amazing person at the front desk were amazing as usual. I would strongly recommend the ymca for long and short term stay.

Awesome staff great location! Next to hospital, stress free ability to see family while in recovery! So greatfull and much appreciated.
