Kimihia Resthome & Hospital

My mum was a resident at kimihia for 6 years before her final curtain call in May. I moved mum there from another rest home under an emergency situation. In this time, the management and then in turn staff, educated themselves for my mums complex full time needs. The whole Kimihia Family became mums and my closest support network. They LISTENED to advice and took it upon themselves to implement when given. They worked endlessly with all mum specialists etc. Yes sometimes a very few % of staff dropped the ball, but they picked it straight back up, with never the same complaint twice. Yes the laundry at the time was crazy, BUT again our complaints were rectified. As for mums food, shelter, and love she received it all from Kimihia Home & Hospital. A reminder to families looking for a home for their loved ones. Please please just don't drop your loved ones off and leave it for Kimihia to forfil your loved ones needs. Yes kimihia will do that loving, like your thinking, that what they are being paid such alot of money for, right? Wrong, your loved ones need YOU more than ever in a rest home environment, they still need to be involved in YOUR life, as they are human and need family and to be included as still part of the wider family. Visit every week, not every month or worse still 2x a year. Ive seen residences where no one ever visits. And that's just Wrong!! . it's a team effort when your loved ones are in care. It involves YOU and the staff at kimihia. It can't work if it's not both. YOUR LOVED ONE will suffer and you will blame the staff" ....... When being loved by your family and visited regular are what they need most ..... That no rest home for love or money ..... Can do that for them. That takes family."

On behalf of my family, I would like to extend our huge sense of gratitude to the carers, and all other staff at the rest home and hospital.My father was so well looked after and cared for. The staff did an amazing job and treated my father like a member of their own family.The conditions in the facility were impeccable, so clean and tidy. A real credit to the staff.Thank you all so much. ❤️

Great place with good care.

It was a very nice large rest home but they were so considered a good place for our friend to have stayed into.

The care is fine great environment good staff there is one major problem for casual visitors in the case of my brother the laundry system is a crock micky mouse. His favourite clothes are gone sent to Auckland mixed together he's got other people's clothes all his items were marked there is someone who knows and sanctioned this arrangement it needs to stop I've got to buy him new cloths. Not happy.

I work here A kimihia rest home.. and am loving every moment ... The residents are joyful and pleasant and make me smile and laugh daily..Management are great and the community support is overflowing .big ups to kimihia rest home
