According to ex-lecturers from the company, This place is racist. The company culture is toxic. Their mission is to keep nz electrical work force white. They keep all the white ones here and all the colored students have to look for alternative such as MIT and Unitec. See the photos here and you know what I mean.

WARNING TO ALL PROSPECTIVE APPRENTICES;Do not go through your apprenticeship with this provider!New ownership has worsen the problemFirstly they clip a huge portion of your pay if you are employed through them which amounts to $47,750 in lost wages over the whole apprenticeship. Claiming Diverse work placements & Training support" However this doesn't exist whatsoever. They have a non compete clause meaning you can not work with an employer your currently at even if they offer you a job. Nor can you leave their boarder line slavery style employment as you MUST complete your contract with ETCO.Secondly training fees amounting to $55 a week adds up to $2860 per year and around $10

Two weeks out from my son's placement to an entrance training camp they pull the plug on the entire course for him. He's been waiting 6 months in limbo as etco were so incompetent with the paperwork their end. Just a joke of a company to be honest. I feel my son has dodged a bullet. All paid for too and no word of a refund. It was nearly 4k and they haven't even said who he needs to contact. What an absolute dogs breakfast

Bitten off more than they can chew.Current Etco Mentors on the ground saying there's a back log of 1000s of books... left over unmarked and checked from previous training provider Skills NZ, leaving Etco struggling to keep up and adding more pressure to existing staff already undervalued and disillusioned.Block courses have been cut down 1st and 2nd year so far.... from two weeks to one, cramming huge amounts of learning into 5 days with too many students...again another streamline for profits. When will Etco put their hands up and be honest I wonder with how they are struggling. For future apprentices... be wary of this company, seek alternatives and save yourself from a bad experience.

Over-working their employees to then charge them Multiple days of wages for falling behind in studies is horrendous, I'm glad I got out before they became so money hungry

One of the worst electrical training institute ever. Dont go this place unless if you really want to fail your complete career. Registered with ETCO for a two yearly refresh course and was told incompetent just after having finished a refreshner and safety course with them for a master electrician who used to take the refreshner courses over the last twenty years in Ara but was full at time of booking before the electrical license is expired. Completed the courses and then was told incompetent when finished. Biased, unprofessional and unfair for a 28-year master electrician ridiculously fail and deregistering a license due to ETCO!Think twice before you enrol! Why would add new stuff that is not informed in the refreshner courses unlike other institutes in prior to the enrolment and deliberately failing senior licenced electrician?? Going to post this on facebook and other media for how rediculously this is!!!

This is not great place to go for training. Although those office staff are very helpful, there are some wiseacre interviewers very interesting in your private information. Do not go there for training or interview. Totally waste your time.
