The owner is one of the rudest women i’ve met. Was browsing outside and then walked up the steps so I could go inside, but the entrance was blocked by owner talking to customers. I patiently waited on the side, expecting her to move so I could go in, but she ignored me. I asked politely if I could go in, she looked at me and ignored me, like i was invisible. Then when I got in, she asked what i was looking for, i said nothing specifically, and then she said “don’t touch my things then, their far to expensive for customers like you to touch”. So I left instantly. I would say she ruined my morning, but I won’t let a low-life, pathetic, miserable women ruin anything for me. Id stay away if I were you!

What a rude owner/staff member. Politely said “excuse me” to who I presumed was the owner, an older woman with long dark blonde hair, who was standing in the doorway; she ignored me so I asked a little louder, and she then huffed at me and made some snide comment to the woman she was speaking to. I was absolutely baffled by this. Would she have preferred me to just shove her aside into her merchandise, or wait however long for her to realise she was blocking the entrance to her own store?! Don’t waste your time, I didn’t. After a cursory look around at a random collection of tat I left.Judging by other reviews this is not a one-off experience.

The cutest little shop, has lots of gorgeous china and gifts, priced so there's a bargain for everyone. Open mostly weekends. A tiny shop with lots of precious things in it, owner is lovely and friendly, I can understand her anxiety over her beautiful things. I've been there when people have no respect and are rough picking up fragile things, letting children run around, touching items they don't intend to buy. Browsers should look with their eyes not their hands.

The woman who owns this store is super paranoid and straight up rude. Really shook us up and left me wondering how some one ends up like that… we left straight after our first interaction with her, which included absolutely no niceties and just her trying to pressure us into buying stuff.

Very odd and confrontational woman running this store. My sister and I were looking at some items outside and commenting on how beautiful they were when she came up and started harassing us about whether we would buy them. I laughed awkwardly and she asked “what’s funny??”Seems like she really dislikes owning a store? She should just keep all of her items to herself if she doesn’t like people coming and looking.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. My boyfriend and I had not even entered the shop yet, we were just browsing the outside tables when the lady working there confronted us trying to sell us $3 tea cups and plates. When we jokingly said we already have enough tea cups and plates, the lady then said we didn't need to look inside as that's all she sells. It was pretty obvious that she sold more than just those dishes inside the store. The pictures on google even show clothes in her store for sale along with clocks. I can definitely say I have never been kicked out of a store before even entering the store. Friends also had a similar experience with this lady and her attitude leaving us all wondering how she is staying in business. This shop and lady are not a good representation of Akaroa at all.

The owner would allow access to the shop only if you buy one of the items on display outside... To prove that we were as she said genuinely interested" and not just browsing... Must have missed something because I didn't realise this store was like Rolex or Chanel with a security person checking access.My friends and me found it really shocking. Will spend our money somwhere else"

Don’t bother visiting, it just ruins your day. Popped into the store today to have a casual browse and the owner was extremely rude to us. We felt so uncomfortable that we left immediately. Definitely ruined our experience at Akaroa.

What a terrible experience. The owner was incredibly rude and practically kicked us out of her 'shop. Obviously we didn't look rich enough to browse in her establishment. Would not recommend going anywhere near the place."
