I came across Patina Photography in 2014 while looking for a photographer for my brother's wedding. We were blown away by their almost editorial wedding pictures that had exactly the romantic, enchanting and polished feel my sis in law was looking for!The pictures came out amazing and Michelle was just such a delight to work with. She went out of her way to accommodate the bride & groom, from providing female-only staff for the ladies-only reception to finding the perfect private locations for a photoshoot.I knew I wouldn't have anyone else to take my own wedding photos when the day comes!Fast-forward to 2018 and now I have my own set of stunning pictures to gush over. My husband and I wanted pictures that focused more on the scenery than our own awkward selves and boy did Michelle and James deliver! We can't wait to print these pieces of art out for our house.On the day of the shoot, we met with Michelle at the designated meeting point where she had already scouted the location - a secluded area of enchanting native NZ forest. Michelle never rushed us as she tried to get us looking as comfortable as possible despite the storm of sandflies, rain and our being camera shy. You would never know how stressed out I was by the sandflies as the pictures came out beautifully romantic and ethereal - the sun breaking through the tops of the trees, we look like elves strolling amongst the mossy branches!After a quick dress change, we headed to our second location - an open textured plain with the southern alps and the setting sun as our backdrop. Michelle & James made a great team, subtly taking shots from different angles. I was so impressed at how dedicated, professional, attentive and positive they were throughout the afternoon. Every picture at this location is just absolutely stunning, and exactly what we wanted! They captured everything I love about the South Island, all while making us look straight out of a bridal magazine.It took less than 4 weeks to receive the online album, and we were just blown away by every photo. I can't recommend Michelle & James enough!

Besides our venue, the photographer was next on our list. We chose Patina because not only were they extremely professional and had it all together, but Michelle and Hemi also made us laugh and feel comfortable. Michelle even showed up at Boomrock for a 9am rehearsal, even though she has done many Boomrock ceremonies.On our wedding day, emotions obviously were high. I was so nervous and literally shaking the entire morning. However, when Michelle came in, she was not only a photographer, but she was so organized. She knew exactly what to do and had timings down like a champ. Michelle told me how much time we had and if I needed a breather, I could do that. I stopped shaking.We had Michelle and Chantelle both taking photos at our wedding. The made an awesome team and made us laugh and enjoy taking photos. They had creative ideas, were cautious of not taking too long with photos and enjoying the wedding themselves, which made us and our guest comfortable and happy.We haven’t received all our photos yet because our wedding was only 3 weeks ago, but within a week we got our sneak peak and they are to die for! We’ve been showing them to anyone who will look. Highly recommend Patina, there will be nothing but calm, trust and fun.

Michelle did our wedding photography and was absolutely awesome! My partner and I clicked with both Michelle and Hemi as soon as we met them, they’re so lovely and easy to chat to. The process running up to the wedding was excellent - Michelle was SUPER organised, we got loads of guidance on planning the day out (which can be quite confronting at first, so we really appreciated the help), and the communication was consistently quick and helpful. On the day, Michelle was all over it, she managed to get so many amazing snaps, she had great energy, and she nailed the couple shoot (and neither of us loves being photographed lol). Super happy with the result and would recommend to anyone! Thank you Michelle!

Overall the photo shoot went really great. We loved the photos and Michelle and James are the best to work with!!! Though there was a lot of info to take before shooting but James and Michelle helped us well. Just thought that the photos on the helicopter ones were a bit less comparing to the day one photos. I think if we could choose again we would still go with Patina Photogrphy but I will def have Michelle to come along too so we would have different kind of photos taken and that would have asked for adding a couple hours more with different locations.Thank you for the lovely adventures! Would be great to see our photos up one the official site soon too!!!!
